Did AZ support it? Curious how much pull the prior team has in getting these approved. There really are no "set" transfer rules
Have to assume that Miller supported Barcello's move/claim, again under the same theory that Quentin Grimes was made eligible in his transfer from KU to Houston - that there were no remaining spots open on the roster for him (easy to back-up with all of the uncertainty in the roster during the offseason).

I'd assume that Calipari would be supporting Bakers request under those same lines. Not sure if the other argument - that Baker already sat a season / redshirted due to injury, so he shouldn't have to sit another to tranfer - holds water. Anyone have any examples of that theory working?

Interview with Miller regarding the state of the team heading into Friday's exhibition.

https://tucson.com/sports/arizonawildca ... 68868.html" target="_blank

Highlights:

* Team has already played six "games" with NCAA rules and referees (between the Red/Blue, secret scrimmage, and intrasquad scrimmages).
* Josh Green has made rapid improvement, winning the gold jersey in practice and better understanding the system within the two positions he's tasked with playing.
* Zeke is making a push for the starting spot at PF (as 97 indicated - shoutout to the dude). His strength and physicality have been striking - plays with explosiveness and energy. "He's having a really good fall with us."
* Doutrive cementing himself as the back-up PG and competing with Hazz for the starting SG spot. "...a year ago versus today it’s like he’s an entirely different player."
* Secret scrimmage insights: Zeke got to the foul line for 14 attempts, Nico got 7 boards, but the Wildcat defense allowed St. Mary's guard Jordan Ford 26pts and we turned it over 18 times.

Looking forward to watching this group on Friday!

Friggin turnovers...I get it, it's really early and maybe some of that was the excitement of playing another team...

To be fair...Jordan Ford is a Senior...he scored 17 against Gonzaga last year and 35 against Utah valley...number #2 scorer in his conference, sooo...it's not that big a surprise he scored 26 against a relatively young team...hopefully it stung.

18 turnovers sounds like the stat Miller would bring up first in a postgame interview. That isn't a shocking stat given newer players and where we are in the season, but turnovers trigger SM fiercely.

Miller mentioned in that interview... committing turnovers hurts in practice, but you hope that it really sets in for the team when they see it on a box score after a game (scrimmage though it may be).

I should’ve done that. Upper deck going for 240 right now.

I’m going to wait and pick up a set week or two out on the secondary markets.

I feel like that's true in a lot of senses. Turnovers are an easy stat to not realize how they build up. They don't feel like a huge deal, just a few mistakes, until you see that you gave up 15 possessions and lost by 1.

Don't know where to put this - was initially excited The Athletic had a UA writer (I refuse to use UArizona), but C.J. Holmes isn't very good, IMO.

When's the last time an Arizona home game wasn't televised, even if it is just an exhibition?

I'm baffled as to why this game isn't on TV. We've had every exhibition and even red blue game televised for like 6-7 years by now.

True, but I'll be out at a dinner on Friday night at game time. Hopefully a replay stream is available, but that's never a guarantee.

FInal Four expectations just got a little closer. I think this is a huge addition, as I didnt think we were a FF caliber team without BWill. Baker puts us back on that track, assuming the freshman step up. I know my excitement is based only on what I saw out of him at Red-Blue, but he was a must add.

Great news, but things are going to change in college basketball now if players only need minor excuses to transfer and not sit out. Alex Barcello in particular not having to sit out for example.

He didn't do well at UK, I think only 31% for 3PT, but a lot of that may have been due to injuries, but the word is he is a good pure shooter.

No Barcello comparisons please!

He is a decent ballhandler, so when Nico is sitting, he can assist with bringing the ball up. He was a very good 3 point shooter in HS, so most expect that the 31% at Kentucky will go up. He is a steady defender.

I would expect a solid rotation player. I don't think it's unrealistic to think he can immediately start next to Nico and Green. A steady, all around guy fits well next to them.

The most notable thing about Baker, IMO, is he lacks the deficiencies some of our other wing options have. Smith can't dribble or finish. Doutrive is a question mark on D and from 3. Hazzard is tiny. Baker doesn't have a ton that stands out, but he doesn't have a real weakness either.
