So, only the blue-hairs will be in the arena with a team from the University that just cancelled all in-person classes on its campus...

Just got back to my Holiday Inn Express and I feel even less intelligent than when I left.

Thoughts:

1) Udub has improved their zone since the 1st game in Seattle. Their spacing was
much, much better this game

2) UA turned the ball over way too many times....some of the TO's were as a result of
#1

3) Stone Gettings failed to hit the mid-range jumpers as he did during the first game
in Seattle

4) Our lack of depth really wore us down in the 2nd half. The effect of
Akot/Doutrive/Jeter/Hazzard really hurt us

5) I will be in Vegas on Wednesday to cheer on the Cats. I have a bad feeling
the Cats will be out of the tournament before I check into my hotel.....much
like last year.

Channing is spot on.

For the first time in as long as I can remember, I turned the game off at half time. It's just not fun watching this team. They just don't give a shit.

If they don't care, why should I?

For all the crap people give Smith you can’t say he didn’t care.
I don’t think a lot of people would have taken an elbow to the face from Stewart and then come back to play with nostril plugs if they didn’t care.

It wasn't just that tweet, there was a lot of people saying he announced he was declaring. We all knew he was going to declare. You don't come out and say it before the season is over unless of course you don't give two shits about your team.

The Hazzard thing was so awkward. They did the senior night ceremonies beforehand, his parents were on the floor, Sean gave him a hug and that was the extent and went on to the other families. You could tell Sean was going through the motions and wanted it to be over as fast as the players on the floor did.

Remember when we all dreaded the end of the season, when we knew we wouldn't be able to watch Arizona basketball for 7-8 months?

How bad things have gotten, the last few seasons most of us (players included) are looking forward to the season being over well before it actually is. A sign of things.

Does anyone declare for the draft before the season ends? Although many players let the coaching staff know they will, such as Mannion and Ayton.

It’s a sign of the times, Merk.

Even though Miller himself let it slip a while back that Nico wouldn’t be back, this isn’t something that should be on the team’s minds for a few more weeks at the soonest.

Miller hasn’t created a culture of winning and a championship work ethic. Not that that’s easy to do, but it’s what we expect at AZ. What we don’t expect are chemistry issues, little to no improvement over the course of the season, lingering tensions between coaches and players, and weak poise in late-game situations.

We can pile on Miller in a thousand different ways. Won’t change that there’s still more embarrassment to come this week, next week and apparently next season.

2020 as a whole is just going to suck for the two big sports. The end of this terrible basketball season, a meaningless football season in which Sumlin will most likely be canned, and then what might end up being Miller's final year that could prove to be just as meaningless as the current one we're waiting out.

Bleck. Thank god for Adia.

I mean, that’s what we are. Put the right coach in Tucson, and we’re suddenly 2-3 years away from being a national contender. We’ve seen this happen at Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee, UCLA (under Howland), Louisville, et al. The coach is everything. If you put an outstanding coach at a program that’s been great historically, big things happen.

It is difficult to imagine that this team does anything in the Pac-12 Tournament or the NCAA Tournament. They have not shown up this year in any big games (two overtime losses against Oregon doesn't cut it), nor shown any sign that they can string together a run of quality wins. The early season winning streak was against inferior talent (and a couple of those games were close). When it mattered, when they were playing on senior night, at home, for a first round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament against a .500 team, they couldn't even deliver, couldn't rise to the occasion. A weak Washington team! A couple of weeks before, they got blown out at home against UCLA, again, not a great UCLA team.

In seasons past, even when there were some deficient aspects to the team, it usually felt like Arizona had enough talent and drive to put together a run in the tournament, even if it did not ultimately happen. Even the early Seam Miller era teams felt like they could go on a run, that they were prepared to play. The past few seasons have not had that feeling. There is no passion, no focus, no drive, no pride. Channing Frye is correct.

Wrong. By the time the game was played asu had already won. We were locked into the 5 seed no matter what the outcome of the Washington game. Win or lose we were already locked into the 5th seed playing UW again on Wednesday.
