Does anybody think the HD will ever get any better on this network?

I'm watching the live stream on my 720p TV and I have been impressed with the quality.

Maybe it looks different on the actual broadcast.

A joke of a network and national coverage.

Scott is a joke.

They said there was an update on Looney. And what was that update? "Alford said he's being evaluated and is unsure what his condition is."

Someone needs to tell Pac 12 what an update is.

Not about Directv anyway

Anyone else streaming the game today have it get real choppy for you at some point? I was streaming at work and two of my other friends streaming had the same issue come up.

Or he is off by 30 minutes for the start time of the penultimate conference game of the year...

Happened to myself and a couple of people I know as well.

Pac12 is smalltime, so it's not surprising.

Same here, froze up a couple times, and then when it restarted was way behind, so I had to refresh the browser to catch up.

I'll be home tonight, so that won't be an issue for me.

Happened ALOT last night. A TON. I was wondering if it was my satellite or hopper unit or if it was a systemic issue. It was HORRIBLE during Colorado/Oregon game.

Thing is.. I wasn't streaming it online or anything. I was simply watching Pac 12 channel on Dish. And it's happened numerous times during the season.

Pac-12 Network reportedly testing on DirecTV on channel 612. Is a deal coming?
The long national nightmare might be coming to an end for the Pac-12 Network. DirecTV might soon carry the Pac-12 Network. According to DBSTalk, the network is currently being tested on channel 612 in both standard and high definition formats. These tests took place on the DISH Network before DISH and Pac-12 Network signed their own deal a few years back. DirecTV might be headed down the same road.

Jon Wilner wrote in the offseason about how important it was for AT&T to acquire DirecTV to ensure future Pac-12 carriage. DirecTV would not budge on the subscription fees the Pac-12 were asking for, so neither side could reach a deal, staying deadlocked in essential cold war for the three years the conference network has existed. The Pac-12 was willing to play the long game and wait for the right dominoes to fall.

The AT&T deal was the tipping point. AT&T already has an existing relationship with the Pac-12 Networks (they made a deal for the network to be carried on their U-Verse package), so it seems like that influence might have moved things in a favorable direction.

It remains unclear which tier the Pac-12 Network would be on the DirecTV package if a deal were to be made. At channel 612, the Pac-12 Network would be situated next to the other major college networks in the Big Ten Network (channel 610) and SEC Network (channel 611), which are both contained in the XTRA, Ultimate and Premier packages of the network. It would be ideal if the Pac-12 could get similar treatment.

Very excited for this. I was contemplating dropping Directv after years with them, couldn't take another year of missing half of the damn games.

With football season quickly approaching, we want to make sure Pac-12 Networks are available to fans on DirecTV in time for our opening games on September 3.

EDIT: It's a Jon Wilner tweet that says "This is first day in 3 years that I've thought @Pac12Networks could announce a deal with @DIRECTV at any point"

Tried to embed it, but it didn't work.

I am hopeful.

Also, this statement remains up on the Pac-12 website:

Fingers still crossed.

Byrne is amazing. Saw an error in his Wednesday email last week with the GameDay app so I emailed him a heads up. Also asked about the DTV deal. Responded 2 days later:
Hoping for resolution with the AT & T purchase. Sent the concern on Game Day app to our IT guys. They can get it fixed!

Appreciate your support of Arizona Athletics.

Bear Down!

I think the network needs to be backed by a major corporation. I was reading somewhere that each school is only getting roughly $1 million in annual revenue from the network, while the SEC and Big 10 schools each get $30-40 million. While we shouldn't expect those numbers, $1 million is a complete joke.

Should've partnered with FOX from the get go and let them force the hands of cable companies to carry the network like they did with Big Ten Network and like ESPN is doing with the Longhorn Network/SEC Network. Larry has been repeatedly way over his head in this job. He moved the conference championship to Vegas and that's about it as far as things he's done right during his tenure.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... en-and-sec

This is what happens when you don't have a partner and need to pay for all the startup costs yourself:

The Pac-12 distributed 67 percent of its record $374 million of revenue to member schools in 2013-14, according to the conference's IRS 990 form released Thursday to CBSSports.com. That was on part with 68 percent distribution in 2012-13.

By contrast, in 2013-14, the Big Ten returned 94 percent of revenues back to members, the SEC provided 90 percent to members, and the Big 12 distributed 87 percent to members. The ACC's tax return from last year has not been released publicly yet, but it returned 91 percent to members in 2012-13.
