Rondae and Stanley

Post by Alieberman »

No... not bashing them here.

They both really struggled on the offensive end, but never gave up defensively. This should not be overlooked.

They will be back to form next week.

Like I said in the other thread, Russell will need another number on his jersey.

If any team not named Kentucky doesn't zone us for the rest of the tournament then their coach needs his head examined. A zone basically takes our best offensive player out of the game. Thank god we are so balanced.

They both hit the boards hard also. 10 boards each.

Yes. Crushed them on the glass.

I don't agree. We had the shooters today for Matta to give up on his zone. Sooner rather than later, Zeus and Bash will figure out the spacing necessary to murder zones.

Btw, Kentucky will never zone Arizona if it comes to that.

22 boards between them. I think we win a lot of games regardless of what they shoot if they continue that effort on the glass

Zeus has had three years to figure it out. He hasn't. Bash I have more confidence in. But todays zone effectively shut down our entire team minus Gabe and TJ. Their huge shots fell, so we move on. Thankfully we defended well (as usual) and stayed in the game until we got things going. I know some others werent agreeing w me in the game thread, but zone is still the best way to beat us.

Wha? Didn't you notice the disparity in points in the paint? Our bigs missed a lot of bunnies and we still crushed them on te boards and with second chance points. That has a lot to do with OSU playing zone.

We shot 36 percent on a night where TJ and Gabe were 13 for 22. Rondae and Stanley were brutal from the floor. Zeus had two field goals on wide open dunks. Bash 3-8 when hes been giving us 70 pct from the field down the stretch.

We had a lot more shot attempts, partly because of zone. At one point in second half, we had 18 attempts. They had nine.

I think TJ finding Rondae in the middle of the defense, where he could attack and dish the ball was huge in breaking down the zone as well.
