Come on down...

The more I read/watch about this guy, the more I like him. Hope he wants to play for a winner, rather than be the star on some second or third rate team.

Aside from highlight reels, has anyone seen this guy? Is his game similar to Ashley's?

Or his more similar to AG?

the writeup i saw says he is a four who prefers to operate outside and can knock them down there. Not much of a presence on the interior on offense and isnt a great rebounder. Didnt see anything about his D, but by his super skinny frame and offensive game im going to assume he isnt going to be much more than a long body inside and we will just have to rely on his length to disrupt, which is what CSM likes anyhow. He is apparently fairly athletic and can run the floor.

Hes going to at minimum add bench depth, but we should always welcome a guy who can hit an outside shot and stretch the floor out. Same w a big who can get up and down.

He is listed at 6'9" 199 lbs and has 1 year of eligibility remaining.

We'll see. If we bring him in, I can't see anyone expecting him to do anything but back up the 4. It's not a bad idea for a kid in his position who's been a big fish in a small pond to try a bigger pond, but if Zeus is back, Zeus, Anderson and Ristic are all going to be penciled in for big minutes.

It'll be nice to have a stretch four. (Anderson can shoot too). He'll be a weapon off the bench and it only adds to the offensive prowess we will have next year. I expect a very good offensive team.

I heard he was looking at ASU, but Coach Walters wasn't given a look-in for the job - one of the few western coaches who didn't get a 'reach-out'.

ASU sure does know how to give a good reach - around, though...

His 4 listed per a Bay area analyst 2 days ago, in order of probability;

Arizona, San Diego State, Washington, USC.

The train wrecks at USC and UW don't afford him much of a chance to win.

So would MT be our backup PF? Not a bad frontcourt: Tarc, Anderson, Smith, Ristic, Comanche, MT

I don't think Tolleson is going to spend his last year in NCAA ball as anyone's backup.

He scored 5, 18 and 21 last season against Gonzaga, so he can play with the big boys.

But who knows, maybe he is OK being a small fish in a big pond.

I just don't think Arizona goes 0-2 and ends up with Tollefsen.

Do you mean 0-2 w/ Rabb and Lee? I would think that Rabb is the only factor determining whether we go after Tollefsen though, right?

Rabb to Cal (okay), but not that and Lee to Louisville after Johnson goes to the NBA.

So when Rabb goes to Cal, do you think we will end up with Lee and Tollefsen? That's what I'm expecting to happen

The timing of Rabb's announcement and MT's visit seems interesting to me. I am sure Miller wants to solidify his roster and this would be bang, bang.

Next would be Lee and maybe SJ's decision

Publicly available info (see Scheer tweets): Arizona isn't taking two transfers. Unless Arizona swings and misses with both Rabb (likely) and Lee (really bad day at the office), Arizona won't have anybody at the 4 next season that isn't on the roster now.

I thought Lee was a 2 or 3? A guy we would take no matter what but a guy who offset the scoring loss of SJ I thought

We only have two spots left. I'll take tollefsen and Johnson.

It seems like Miller thinks there is a good chance he gets Johnson or Rabb next season.

I think that dictates which grad transfer he takes for next season.

Why does it seem that way? Because of the preference for Lee over Tollefsen?

Or could it be that Miller is comfortable enough with the players already in place for the 4 (without Rabb) to take the best available grad transfer?

Would've been a great talent to have but the last few weeks he was giving off a Marcus Williams/Josiah Turner/Sidiki Johnson vibe.

Everyone talks about "great talent"

Talk is cheap. Performance is what matters. Rabb underperformed down the stretch.

For someone who thinks talk is cheap...

This one is on Miller... Stanley is an auditioner like Bayless... Rabb is soft.

Rabb is an 18 year old kid, Dr. Emotional. You do a terrific BC97 impersonation....

Not what I'm being at all if you've read my posts. But I didn't say he was those three, just that he was giving off a similar vibe lately.

That's the period of time that occasions 95% of the embarrassing things fan bases say. The magical butthurt hour.

As for Tollefson, I have some lasting concern that he only averaged 5 rpg in big minutes and 0.8 bpg. With our recent teams being very strong on the glass and on D, I have some hesitation about whether he fits that mold.

Which numbers are very similar to Kaleb Tarczewski at 5.2 rpg and 0.6 bpg.

I had been thinking of him as an Ashley replacement or Rabb backup plan. That struck me as odd. Perhaps, it's best to think of him as a Rondae replacement.

https://medium.com/@schnides14/mark-tol ... cffc2ec14e
Like Hollis-Jefferson, Tollefsen impacts every key statistical category. Most importantly, for USF he frequently took the job of guarding the opponent’s best player. Guard or forward, it mattered not. Tollefsen has the foot speed and wingspan to render a normally good offensive player miserable.

In his final press conference of the season, following USF’s loss to Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals, Dons coach Rex Walters affirmed a belief he has previously made known: if Tollefsen packed on 10–15 pounds ahead of ‘15–16, he could become the best player in the conference.

I wrote about Tollefsen for SLAM last season, and have frequently returned to this passage. Rex Walters frequently refers to the ease with which Tollefsen plays the game. There’s the dunks (seriously, look them up on YouTube), but more importantly, the way he can affect a game.

Knowing Miller's affinity for defense and versatility, this is beginning to make sense.

Except Kaleb did that surrounded by dominant rebounders on a 34-4 team instead of a mediocre rebounding team that finished 14-18 in a midmajor conference. Oh, and Tollefson averaged 5 mpg more.

I hope he works out, this is just the aspect that concerns me about his game.

Edit: if he is seen as a 4. If the above post about wing potential is the thought, the rebounding thing changes a bit. I didn't watch any USF games, so if he's a wing who was playing post, it allays my concerns.

I'm fine with taking this guy, but I really hope we get Lee if Stanley does go. I think he's a huge difference maker and adds a for sure offensive weapon and defender at a spot of need. Also is that RondaeShimmy guy a reputable source of any kind or is he just speculating?

Sounds like Mark wants in, hasn't even scheduled another school and won't until after the visit. Lee is the priority for obvious reasons, but wonder if Mark won't take "no" as an answer and Miller just takes both.
