He's not a name, but I like what he brings. He has PAC-10/12 experience at one of the growing programs at the time. He has experience successfully running a program and helping it rise to the top of the conference in many capacities.

He's prioritized academics, and fundraising, and facilities. His teams have done well and he's overseen several quality football coaches.

If they weren't going to pull a name and Dempsey and, assuming, Miller gave a once over and approved, it think it's a good hire.

Lots of quality hires in place. If Rodriguez gets a few more years, I think he can make Football competitive again. If so, there's really not a flaw he'll need to oversee or correct for now.

Scheer tweeted they went after del Conte, he listened, but UA had no chance.

I like it. I think at a mid major he learned how to hire up and coming coaches, especially football coaches like we would likely have to hire.

If Ced signed off on him, I think we will be in good hands

Haven't heard one bad word about the guy. He's well respected and he stayed at CMU so long because it's home. I'm not sure what changed for him personally (maybe kids are in college like Byrne), but this was the upgrade his career was more than ready for. I think if Currie from KSU didn't have that $1.5 million buyout then he'd have got the job. Arizona isn't in a place to spend $1.5 million to buyout an AD at the moment with the debt we are currently in with the previous regime's upgrades on the books. I trust Heeke will do just fine at fundraising and working the books. He like any other AD will be judged on his coaching hires at Arizona and if he can work large donations for further facility upgrades. As I mentioned Arizona isn't in the best place to go too much further into debt. Maybe he can be the one to work the golden goose that is Arte Moreno and finally get the guy to pony up some dough for major upgrades. Hell somebody has to do it eventually.

Is there a difference between AD and Vice President of Athletics? Is there a President?

The Athletics Director is the Vice-President of Athletics for the University of Arizona. So no, basically just has to do with how the departments are structured within the University

Byrne was also Athletics VP

He'll be in the middle of the PAC in 4 years based on yearly escalators. Hell the guy is still getting his pay doubled year 1.
