What if Lauri had stayed another year, and we had 3 7' players starting? Would we still have lost to Purdue?

What are your favorite what if's?

For Arizona basketball?

#1 personally would be what if Gilbert Arenas doesn't hurt his shoulder against MSU and isn't hampered against Duke.

What if that famously horrible referee wasn't on the officiating team in our 2014 Elite Eight game against Wisconsin, and therefore wasn't there to call that ridiculous offensive foul on Nick Johnson at the end of the game when Rondae had established position under the rim?

Damon stays as assistant coach and Book leaves.

In older news: Brash is healthy against Wiscy.

What if Ashley doesn't get hurt is a good one. My personal answer, we win a NC and potentially go undefeated in the process.

Another nominee, what if we don't melt down vs Illinois? We're at least playing UNC for the title, and it also has the potential to affect the trajectory of the remainder of Lute's tenure and exit.

What if Anderson Hunt really did commit a charge when he knocked Kenny Lofton down?

That's why we're here. Personally, if not for the Arenas and Ashley injuries, we have 3 national championships. That's why they're 1 and 2 for me.

Our defense would suck a whole lot worse than it currently does.

Anyway, I doubt we’d start all three. Ristic on the bench is better than Rawle, Trier, or even PJC not getting starter’s minutes.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

What if one of Horne or Williams's jumpers fell in 2011?

Bad Kentucky team, VCU, and Butler... not a bad road to a natty (just ask the team that beat us).

We'd be playing Lauri, Ayton, Rawle, Trier and PJC as starters. Every loss would be 100% blamed on PJC with that lineup.

What if D.Williams does not get two quick b.s. fouls at the beginning of the UConn Elite 8 game in 2011 and misses most of the first half?

This.

And what if Steve Kerr hits his first 3 vs Oklahoma?

This one and the proper call is made on the defender on Nick's drive....these forever bug me, because that is literally the difference between contentment and our fanbase being ludicrous about Miller. 1/16th of an inch on Jamelle's jumper (I was right behind him angle to the basket and it looked good the whole damn way), and a block foul and Nick hitting FTs vs Wisconsin, and we are talking about a juggernaut.

The Brandon Ashley injury thing is more complex to me, because the strength of a team in college is based on its depth, but we did have the weird one and done decision taking away BrAsh's competent backup. I have no doubt we win the title in 2014 with a healthy Brandon. Or even Jerrett. So, I go back and forth as to whether this is a "horrible luck in a single action" situation or a "we weren't deep enough and that is part of the strength of a team" situation. But, yeah...if Brandon stays healthy, we maybe lose a single game.

What if Sean Elliott's knee brace required him to play six years at Arizona?

What if Arizona had played lower seeds in every NCAA tournament game?

What if Bobbi Olson never had cancer?

What if Chicat could openly admit the possibility another point of view than his own was right?

These are the stuff dreams are made on, Sam Spade....

If Gonzaga plays the same Elite Eight game, we probably lose there. Gonzaga played far and away their best game of the season vs Xavier. As good as they were, I doubt we would have beaten them.

The depressing part of this thread is that we have 5 close Elite Eight losses as contenders since 2003. Then you get to 2001 and the 1998 Utah loss. We legitimately may be the most frequent producer of close but no cigar moments in the last 20 years in any sport.

Since we are thinking outside the box:

What if I won the Mega Millions Jackpot? (Take home pay ($500M+) After retiring and setting my family up for life

- I would demand input into the new design of Arizona Stadium, then get the rights to rename it, get my own personally designed suite, and get to hire my own Coach(s).
- Oh and let's not forget basketball - I would season tickets (ie. Jack Nicholson type seats so the camera catches me with every pass) and Coach Miller would be my weekly golfing buddy.
- Last but not least, Pay for someone to set up a fake scandal to get Tad Boyle fired.

Did I go too far?

Are you sharing money with players? If the NCAA has to answer about whether you went too far, that's the line.

If you just endow a fake class for a disproportionate number of athletes, that's an institutional issue.
