I’m not sold on Bal and I’m not sure he’ll ever be a consistent contributor. I certainly hope I’m wrong but not a fan of his game at this point.

We didn’t look half bad, and will definitely improve. Excited to see what Ramey, Henderson, and Veesaar are going to bring to the court.

I like how we scheduled a legit good D2 team that gave us everything they had. Whoever is in Western Oregon's conference should be scared of that team.

No. 17 Wildcats Win Exhibition Over Western Oregon, 91-61
TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 17 Arizona unofficially kicked off the 2022-23 men's basketball season at the McKale Center on Tuesday in an exhibition game against Western Oregon where the Wildcats won by a score of 91-61.

It was a balanced offensive performance with six Wildcats scoring in double figures, led by returning first team all-conference forward Azuolas Tubelis and his 19 points. Oumar Ballo picked up a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in addition to two steals and three assists. Sophomore guard Adama Bal made an impact with 15 points and six rebounds while also going 10-11 from the free throw line. Pelle Larsson, Courtney Ramey and Cedric Henderson Jr. also scored in double figures.

What the heck. It was a such a busy day yesterday, and into the evening, that I completely forgot there was a game. I didn't see any thread on the game when I checked earler in the day so I missed it. Ended up watching my wife choice of shows last night instead.

He's streaky, and so far at AZ, his hot streaks have tended to be rare. He would help the team more by averaging 6+ assists per game than by taking so many threes.

Nothing definitive from me, but it’s apparent that this team will go into lulls on the offensive end - missing shots, turnovers, etc.

I’m curious to see if Pelle, Ramey, and Bal will take over that Mathurin role of busting us out of slumps by driving the ball to the basket and getting to the line. It’s so key to stopping opposing runs and giving our guys a breather to collect themselves after a rough spot.

Last season, Pelle could come into the game after 5 minutes or so, once the game's flow had already been established and we'd started feeling out our match-ups. It's different to be a starter and have the added pressure of throwing (or rolling with) the first punch. So yeah, Pelle and these other two will need to be active early, not just stopping the other team's runs but also imposing our style of play right off the tip.
