Good luck
I wish him all the best but without an outside shot and limited mobility I believe his best chances will be in Europe.

Well that should open up 2 scholarships since I assume that Tautvilas is gone too. Hopefully Veesaar is ready to fill some big shoes

He doesn't appear to have Zu's hands and quick instinctive turn to the basket.

Was hoping he would come back but things will be fine next year. Lloyd has proven to make it work no matter who leaves and I expect the team to be much better defensively

At the moment, that appears to be the only logical option, but geez. I recognize that we'll probably get two or three portal transfers in, but we are officially very short-handed right now.

That's what I was thinking. Opens up room and eliminates those concerned about playing time if Zu was there. May be good timing on this actually. At least we know...

I loved Zu as a Freshman. I feel that his desire to play defense declined every year that he played. I would have loved to have him back as a way to see if Tommy can motivate/coach a very good player to fix or improve upon his limitations.

Why wouldn’t another big want to come in and simply condition themselves to run the floor and get easy buckets? Tommy’s style is so much fun to watch

And, IMNSHO, I hope fans, especially around here, have the patience to deal with his learning curve, and the “Bear Down” attitude to give him enthusiastic support!!

I’m pessimistic on this, but always a cockeyed optimist!!

Take them with you. A Merkin family road trip. You can all wear jorts.

No more jorts since becoming a senior. It's all cargo shorts now since I need four pockets, wallet, keys, cell phone ,cheater glasses. I retired 4/30/2020 and have worn cargo shorts every day since! If you see a big tall goofy old man wearing cargo shorts in Palm Springs it may not be me, that is our uniform.

Yo Merk, when was the last time you wore a belt? For my part in the thought experiment I'm thinking back and drawing blank. I had to wear a belt to do forestry work, but that ended in '13. Fuck those things.

Ha Merk. I get what your saying although not retired yet.

Makes me think of last time wearing a tie. Right now only for funerals and weddings.

I still have to wear a belt cause my butt cheeks aren't big enough to keep up my 30" waistband.

I've resorted to wearing my EMS jump pants for work most of the time cause of the little sticky strips in the band that keep em from falling down. Also lots of pockets!! Pens, that wrench you always need, phone, note pad, meds. I gotta carry around a lot of stuff these days.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Same although I have a plump 31" inch waist. I need to wear a belt on everything unless it has an elastic waistband like sweats

UAE has never fought a war with Israel. Not sure why they needed peace accords, but that's a discussion for the lower boards.

So, fashion plate Merk, tell me about your sock ensemble: anklets; above-the-ankle; knee-high old fart length; white only or geriatric brown pressure hose?

SWMBO was wearing those exact sandals on our recent vacation darn near every day. Blew out the soles on the third last day but decided to wear them the next day on the Whale Shark Swim boat (flop, flop, flop, flop) on the second last day. She left them in the room for distribution to local opshop. The boat's captain suggested that the OpShop would repair them easily enough (shoe-goo is all they needed) and SWMBO didn't really want to pack them and bring them back anyway.

Cap said they really had a difficult time with internet ordering there (Exmouth Western Australia) that its really tough to get stuff that comes with the correct size.

The Arizona Wildcats appear possible to take an exhibition swing through Israel this August, their first foreign tour since 2017.

Arizona is tentatively planning to go at least to Israel as of now, after a report on Twitter on Thursday said that UA and Kansas State would be playing in Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

College teams are eligible to take foreign tours every four years, meaning UA has been able to since UA coach Tommy Lloyd was hired in 2021, but Lloyd has expressed reservations about taking a foreign tour because his many international players have national team commitments over the summer.

Last summer, UA guards Kerr Kriisa (Estonia) and Pelle Larsson (Sweden) spent large chunks of the summer playing for their national teams, while center Oumar Ballo also trained with the Mali national team that ultimately did not play FIBA World Cup qualifying games out of protest. But the Wildcats do not have any national team commitments during that time this summer.

Arizona last took a foreign trip to Spain in August 2017, just over a month before the FBI announced its investigation into college basketball. The Wildcats played just two games -- beating teams in Valencia and Mataro -- before canceling a third game after a terrorist attack struck a crowded area just five blocks away from where the Wildcats were staying in Barcelona.

The August timing this year will allow the Wildcats to firm up their 2023-24 roster, which still has five openings as of now. Arizona has eight players expected on its roster for next season, unless Azuolas Tubelis comes back from the NBA Draft pool, and typically aims to get all of its players on campus by July for offseason workouts.

A foreign exhibition tour would also allow UA to hold 10 full practices in July and August before leaving.

Among the familiar faces UA's Pelle Larsson is scheduled to see at the G League Elite Camp later this month in Chicago: Tiger Campbell of UCLA, Tristan da Silva of Colorado, Drew Peterson of USC and Tosan Evbuomwan of Princeton.

The NBA released the full list of 45 G League Elite Camp invitees on Friday. The camp, essentially a combine for G League and fringe NBA Draft prospects, will be held May 13-14 at Chicago's Wintrust Arena, before the NBA Combine later that week.

UA forward Azuolas Tubelis is expected to be invited to the NBA Combine, but an official list of players has not been released yet.

Watched this kid live, at the Arizona-Wazzu game in Pullman. Raw as heck, offensively, but my God that wingspan!! I swear it felt that he could block every shot in the gym, even when he was standing a body-length away from the shooters. Freakish ability. If he ever develops a shot, he is going to be an absolute monster!

As much as I like them, Ballo and Zu are not rim protectors. Cats could really use one. I think Veesaar might turn out to be a decent low post defender if can get some strength and not get pushed around. Anderson too for that matter.

He looks so much bigger in that pic than he does on the court. Context is everything.
