Ugh. Not the way for this season to start. Hopefully one of our many no name recruits can fill the void. I'm feeling skeptical about this season already.

This one hurts bad. Our secondary is already a weak spot in a conference where teams have lights-out pass-happy offenses.

Great move by the staff. Terrible job by Bondurant. Hope he gets his head out of his @$% or his is going to have a life filled with "coulda beens" and excuses for where he ends up. Damn that kid play. No two ways about it - we are going to miss him BAD on D.

Calm down Safety is one of our deepest positions and Will Parks will take over for him.

Hoping door slightly open for TB to come back to team. Sounds like TB informed he was leaving earlier in day. He's still on the roster. The roster consistently gets updated pretty efficiently. Of course, TB would want to, RR would want him back (not mad enough to order TB off roster during day) and assuming more disciplinary hurdle added for TB to come back. Assuming TB would want a shot at NFL, TB has lots to lose lots to think about.

Actually our secondary was the strongest position on the team besides wr...4 senior starters.

I'm not so sure he's gone. TB was probably angry and made a stupid mistake and I think he will talk to RR and get it all patched up. He has too much to lose. He was a draft pick with another year and is throwing it away. I'm hoping he comes to his senses.

The coaching staff has been upset with him all summer long. This isn't something that just happened the last day or two.

From a football perspective this is not a killer. Gets Parks on the field more, which is great, though obviously depth becomes an issue. Only position other than WR where losing a senior starter can be absorbed readily.

However, we're definitely better with him and it's entirely in his best interests to be playing this year (this isn't hoops, you can't go to Europe) so I hope that Bondo takes advantage of the small window of opportunity that RR left open.

Da Fuq? This sucks. One of my favorite players on the team. Can anyone elaborate on the above? This kid was supposed to be a senior leader. What's going on.

RR is no nonsense, step over the line and you will pay. These kids have to know that by now. They didn't learn from him sitting Kadeem? TB was playing for $ and his family next year. No other way to say it, what a. dumbshit

Are you implying that Arizona football garners enough attention to make the front page of the ESPN College Football page? This news MIGHT make the PAC 12 blog on ESPN's site, but probably not to the capacity you are crediting it with.

I was going to say that it might be good if it did. 1, people are paying attention, and 2, RR doesn't mess around with disciplinary issues. Although it looks as if this might be Bondurant's decision to some extent by some posts.

“Tra’Mayne Bondurant had some discipline things that he had to do, and he chose to leave the program, so he’s no longer a Wildcat as of today,” Rodriguez said (via Arizona Daily Star). “You can do the discipline and be part of the team, or, I never lock the doors from the inside out. The doors are never locked.”

It is important to know Rodriguez has not spoken to Bondurant face-to-face at this time, so the head coach may be willing to welcome the safety back if the two can have a conversation.

“I wouldn’t say no chance (he doesn’t return) because his position coach has talked to him, but I haven’t,” Rodriguez said. “He had some discipline to do and he decided to quit instead. So that’s where we’re at.”

We lose our biggest playmaker on the d and people are saying this isn't a big deal. We may have a lot of bodies at safety but I am not convinced it isn't a huge drop off from Bondurant to his back up.

WTF is going on in his mind. Take your punishment like a man and move on. Does he not realize how bad this makes him look? Good luck in the NFL with that attitude.

Good point. If you want to quit, at least tell the coach face to face. RR hearing it second hand is the coward's way out.

I hope he earns his way back on the team. Would be missing a huge piece of our D if he were to leave. Plus, he'd be flushing any hopes of any hopes of an NFL spot right down the drain.

So... he is told to do his discipline or he will be kicked off the team.

He doesn't do it and is kicked off the team.

Now he want's to do it?

Was he calling RRod's bluff?

I hope they make it difficult for him to return.

If Bonda shows commitment and maturity, I doubt RR wouldn't allow him back. RR seems pretty straight forward in these circumstances. The punishment would be increased and Bondo would be likely to will miss 1 or 2 games.

Wonder if Bondo got an ear full from his mother. .. (that would fit the "don't f*** with mom" narrative that UofA sports has right now. .. ).

Glad Bondurant quickly realized how dumb he was being. Hope he can turn things around.

Briefly looked for any updates on Bondurant's status... did not find any details. Anyone know how long he will be "not with the team"?

I am curious what happened, as even with all the off-field stuff Carey was around and involved, he got to play in the second game of the season.
