I think the coaching staff is doing what we all hoped they would. They are getting a few players but we are a long way from being competitive.

I think the coaching staff is getting the most out of the portal that they can. I can't help but be impressed by Gunner and then this guy.

I would agree mostly because I wonder if Doyle gets beat out if he doesn’t go back into the portal which I wouldn’t blame him. Question is, do we take a transfer or try to roll the dice and get two freshman recruits?

A Nebraska QB entered the portal too, started a couple of games then was benched.

You are talking about Luke McCaffrey who threw 1 TD to 6 INTs this year. I think it is safe to say at this point McCaffrey's are great football players but awful QB's. Maybe Luke and Dylan would be open to a position change, if thats the case I would be good with both of them.

Nice pickup and we now have 5 scholie QB’s which is a lot better position then we were in not too long ago.

This guy is a more mobile option and his numbers were not that bad at USF.

Then Doyle Sr needs to shut the fuck up. No coaches want to deal with helicopter parents.

Nah, Cecil couldn't have had anything to do with it. Athletes today don't want to prepare for the next level under the tutelage of All American program legends with decades of experience.

They only want to learn from millennial coaches who are barely older than them and had some prior success coaching at Eastern Nowhere State.

Looks like only two this class. Luke Eckardt out of HS and Davis DiVall transfer from Baylor. We did get a good commit for the 2022 class though in Grayson Stovall from Hamilton. Hopefully we use what is I think our last spot for one in the spring.

24/7 has us at #75 nationally. Ordinarily I'd be mad, but the firing makes it tougher, plus it's offset by doing well in the portal.

Still not as Team Fisch as some here, but I'm more ok with this than #75 would suggest.

#75 is a lot better than I thought we’d do even before Sumlin got the axe.

Said it before, but kudos to the unnamed staffer who kept all those kids in the fold through the coaching transition. He or she deserves 10% of Sumlin’s buyout.

I'm not blaming Fisch, as I think year 2 and 3 will be far more telling for him, but I think it's the lowest 24/7 has ever ranked a class for us.

I don't know whether to be happy it wasn't worse or sad because I'm happy it wasn't worse. The portal offsets a decent amount and the following years will tell, but Oregon State was the only P5 school lower.

Part of why we are ranked so low is because our hands were tied with all of the low level recruits that signed early (though I choose to believe we found some diamonds in the rough).

As for OL we also add back Edgar Burrola, both him and Davis Divall will add instant depth.

A few of our kids aren't ranked yet as well. As soon as their rankings come in the class rank will go up.

Trust me, I'm not arguing the sky is falling. Fisch did not get a stacked class to try to retain. His story will be more about the future years when he gets a chance to build relationships and even this year, the transfer portal helped us get kids who still have a few years to grow.

Like I said, I'd be far more bummed about #75 if this was a normal offseason, but it isn't for several reasons.

Yes, but I think even comparatively, we did fairly well. This is a pretty unprecedented year for being able to immediately improve via transfers, and we did a good job maximizing that.

Again, I'm less team Fisch than most here, but I'll give credit where it's due. I think he made the smart move by diving in the portal, where you don't need as much of a prior relationship and can sell immediate playing time.
