Why not share with your Bear Down brethren here? It's not like anybody here will get pissed.

Everyone says UCLA or BSU with WSU and Arizona in the next tier. My gut says UCLA just because he moved up his announcement date. I'd assume BSU wouldnt be pressuring him that much to commit right now while UCLA probably needs an answer so they can move on

He hasn't visited yet, so we'll know more tomorrow, but I didn't expect him to come with another QB committed.

I actually saw the article this morning about his pending announcement on Scout and thought, "Huh, it's not like them to hype a recruit we're obviously not getting. So maybe . . . "

Still a shock though. A really nice one!

By his comments in premium articles I've read elsewhere, I'd say very solid. Doesn't sound like some BS premature decision only to be rescinded by Mama down the road. He says Arizona's the right fit, and that the coaching staff, the offense and the trajectory of the program are where it's at for him. Not afraid of competition either.

And him and Khalil Tate are friends and are excited to be playing together, so I don't think we have to worry about Tate decommitting.

I like the fact that the one QB had an offer from USC (as an athlete) and Modster had one from UCLA. If we can keep winning a few of these battles every year we could have some great things happen

What QB does he remind you of?

Quick view of the tapes reminds me a bit of a slightly shorter Mariota. Good awareness, deceptive speed, accurate and can drop the ball in where he wants it, not a huge arm but decent, looks like he has good vision. Mechanics when he's rushed is spotty, but when he throws it right it's smooth and effortless.

Just thinking about the trajectory of our O gives me a chub.

Probably closer to Hundley than Mariota

Yea was on the fence between the two. Hundley just seems so much bigger, but I guess his body type is actually pretty similar as a junior in HS.

loving the basketball/football overlap and relationships our guys have. Willy and Rondae are very good friends and Stanley and Cayleb are very good friends and more BDawk, Anu, Cody etc. Love how Stanley is tweeting a football recruit. I know they went to the same school but still think it is cool

I'm still w/ Newport on the indoor facility (mostly because I want a place to drink beer at halftime like they can in Eugene). There's been plenty of reasons to be skeptical. But there's also plenty of reasons to be optimistic, and this is one. Still a long way to go until signing day, though, so:

All the BRO guys seemed to think he was headed to BSU.

Yup. And his official 247 sports recruiting page which only ever mentioned Arizona, ucla, utah and unlv in anything related to his recruiting in the last 2 years of stories, offer lists and articles. So blame 247 sports, not me.

Maybe you should make your statements show a little less certainty when you really don't know what you're talking about. That'd help, I think.

Virtually every one of his posts would need to include a disclaimer, then. Maybe it would be easier to just include it in a signature line that is auto-populated.

I hate the Modster commit, guy is not going to be good, why would we ever try and land four star players that look great on film with great offer lists and even worse are from Orange County....honestly probably my favorite commit by Rich Rod since he has been here. Checks all the boxes.

Who were the idiots around here saying we can't compete with USC or UCLA for recruits in SoCal...well yes we can and we should. Especially guys like Modster or Tate who see playing time opportunies over staying local.

I have talked with insiders who say this class is going to be very strong as we are on a number of much stronger recruits then last year. Thank God! And focused on California which is so smart.

And yes, regardless for what you think the biggest thing missing in our athletic department outside of redoing the academic center is an indoor facility all teams can use and fan can use on game days. I will be playing that tune till the cows come home and someday it will get done and someday we will have have beers in it before a game and will meet some of you and you will say...ok Newport this isn't so bad

Specifics on recent RB commit:

http://www.azdesertswarm.com/recruiting ... to-arizona

This is the first 2016 commitment that I question...........unranked with an offer list that includes Toledo and Central Michigan. Its not like we couldn't have offered this kid later on. If we are short scholies again come January 2016 this could bite us (much like all those early 2 star offers last year left us short of scholies at the end).

Did you see his film? Has great vision and decent speed. Plays at a high level in Georgia that has pretty good HS football. I think the only reason he doesn't have better
Offers yet is that he is a bit small.

What if a 4 star RB (or DL or OL) is available come January 2016 and we don't have any scholies left???
