Couple of unrelated random thoughts here.

Ricky Hunley (interior D-line) and Jason Kaufusi (DEs) can show their worth this week, in the areas of instilling motivation, intensity, and discipline. I'm sure it gets old having extra guards, TEs, and FBs coming at you all game on seal blocks, and there's probably some concern about cut (and chop) blocks. It really needs to be an "on to the next play" mentality without losing your cool. And, of course, everybody else has to follow their assignments and wrap up. No need to try to impress anybody with shock and awe on big hits. Just wrap and rip (and don't miss.) It would be nice if Savea was full-go, but I'm sure he's sub-par, if even available. But, I'm sure NDSU would like to have their guy available, too.

Meanwhile, if we DO win as an underdog on our own field, after all the big talk and predictions and accusations about P5 fan arrogance (I don't see any here) and how underrated they are, I don't want to hear any crap about the refs, or how NDSU make mistakes or any of the rest of it. Just "good game", shake hands, shut up, and go home.

I haven’t seen one tweet, post or otherwise saying we should roll NDSU. I think half what is said is made up and the usual little brother talk.

They will come straight at us with ball control and great execution. This one will go down to the fourth quarter for sure. I see a 27-24 type game and just hope we can find a way to win. JDL’s play will be key

All of my football loving UA grad friends are worried big time that we’re about to lose to a FCS team. Me included. No one I know is predicting we are going to roll anyone. Especially after that NAU embarrassment last year.

Most of us here are pretty level headed.

If this was last year- NDS would easily win.

We are just emerging from a complete lack of talent.

Saturday's game should be a good 1

Iowa had George Kittle on that team
K State had Tyler Lockett on that team

NDSU won't be facing any 1st rounders this Saturday night so that helps us. no doubt you have talented players, maybe 2-3 Yeats they develop into stars who knows.

Check out the UA wide receivers, Cowling and T-Mac. No idea if they will be first rounders, but they have some serious talent.

The UA kicker, Tyler Loop, has not missed a FG this season and last. Not that the NFL picks kickers in the first round, but he has a future in the league if he can kick from distance.

Same here. Been in Arizona since 1967 and never stung by a scorpion. They were probably fucking with it like dumbasses.

That really sucks. Not a good way to remember Tucson! But like other's have said- it is not that common. Maybe we're just trained to keep an eye out... but no one I know has been stung.

I've been stung 3 times. Once the scorpion crawled up my pant leg and got me near the knee cap several times (that was fun...). The other 2 times I stepped on them in the garage. You'd think I'd start wearing shoes, but I still go barefoot. :)

Ice and elevate the stung area. It will be numb for several days...

Better part of 30+ years in Arizona, and never been stung. Killed my fair share of scorpions. Known a few who have been stung, and the smaller the bug, the worse the sting is true. Hope the fan is OK and can make it out to the game Sat night. Numb for a few days but nothing lingering is what everyone I know who has been stung describes the experience.

One of my eastside brothers finds rattlers in his yard about once a year or so. Probably not a concern if the visitors stay midtown.

But if you do go out in the desert, avoid the Jumping Cholla. They do and they will, as I have first hand experience.

The Dis Card

Posted: Thu Sep 15, 2022 4:59 pm
by TheCatInTheHat
Yeah, stung twice and shot a rattler. And now for something completely different:

I remember when Larry Smith was about to play one of the LA schools, he'd yap about how nobody respected his team, which was part of his effort to psych his players up for a big effort. I remember at one point, he talked about not accepting sitting at the back of the bus, and he'd really stretch trying to claim anything he could find as a slight. Never been big on that kind of psychological game-playing in coaching, but some coaches are really into it. So here's a pre-game quote from NDSU's CB Courtney Eubanks: “You know, FBS, they don’t look at us that way,” Eubanks said. “They probably just think they’re going to come out here and dominate. I guess we don’t get the respect that we need because we’re the FCS, but I feel like we can beat a lot of FBS teams.” That's certainly broad-brush enough to get paint on absolutely everyone. The whole thing is predictable and tiresome. Scheer says the Fargo media is in on the gig, with a Sarah Bernhardt reaction to Tucson media creating a breech in diplomacy due to not asking questions about NDSU. So it's not enough that nobody's being disrespected and all everyone has talked about is how they're good and it will be a tough game. All of this junk has played its course; time to tee it up.

And no one has. So if they want to play the disrespect card, they’re going to have to totally make it up.

I’ve been out here most of my life.

I’ve never been stung by a scorp. Neither has anyone I’ve known.

The last fatality from a scorp sting was like 1964 in TTown.

We learn to shake out out shoes for rocks and scorps. I’ve taught all my kids that.

Hopefully she’s out of hospital soon and ok. Cheers!

It started Monday when Fisch has his press conference and he talks about the Saturday game and doesn’t get asked questions about the current weeks game because he has another pressor where he does that (today I think). He was effusive in his praise today. Any NDSU fan saying the team or we the fans are disrespecting them is just some made up BS

This is a monumental rebuild so zi never feel confident. I do think being an underdog can help us in this one. Hopefully our guys feel a bit of disrespect at being a home dog but that didn’t help last week.

They are going to pound it and try and control the clock. Hopefully we can muster up a great physical effort and have a SDSU type day on offense

Let’s clear something up. North Dakota State is trying to build up a disrespectful talking point. It is all fake. It is clear that It’s actually NDSU and their fans that don’t respect Arizona. Normally I don’t wish a blow out against FCS team, but I really hope Arizona takes it to NDSU.
