And he just showed off his speed and ran 60 yards past everyone for a TD.

Omg is he fast.

What a fantastic pickup.

To clarify, they said no freshman in CA has ever run the 100m than his 10.5, which is STILL quite remarkable.

He seemed like a great kid… a bit nervous making the announcement, but on that stage at that age he should be.

Is he planning on running track and was that a factor in his decision? He seemed quite open about the fact that track is his first love… makes me wonder if there is any risk he gives up FB to focus on that (which can be a risk with track athletes).

No shit. When was the last time we had a RB that could flat out outrun elite DB’s in a HS All Star Game?

Thanks Harvey for the clarification. He is very fast. He ran away from that safety on his second TD.

Just incredible the recruiting job that has been done

Jedd Fisch and the rest of the current staff are absolutely incredible recruiters. As bad as Fisch looked as a coach last year he is equally amazing at getting these players to buy into whatever he is selling. Very impressed. He and the staff have signed 11 of the top 68 players in California according to 247Sports. There is absolutely no other comparable recruiting season amongst any prior staff in UofA history.

Scary to think what the next class will look like if by chance, somehow, someway we get to a bowl this season.

How can WSU get so many good recruits with the worst venue in the PAC, along with being in the middle of nowhere, with shitty weather, along with pasty coeds?

Mike Price did it, The Pirate did it, and now Dickert...

I am guessing you’ve never been to Pullman? I have been there a few times and am with you on everything but the ‘pasty coeds’.

I thought the same thing before I went for the first time… but there were more than a few little hotties running around that campus each time i have been there. (I am told it is farmers’ daughters from Eastern WA and all the cuties in the western part of the state that can’t get into UW).

Oregon State, Stanford, and Cal? Now there you’s have a point. I’ve never been to Utah’s campus, but All the others have their fair share of honeys (although UCLA was not bad, it was disappointing).

Pac-12 Hotline: Washington State might win the North Division QB shuffle
Jon Wilner The San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News Jan 9, 2022 Updated 1 hr ago

Jayden de Laura is leaving Washington State, but that may have just opened the door for a top FCS quarterback to head to Pullman.

Jon Wilner The San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News
Instant reaction to developments on and off the field …

1. Big news in the Palouse
There are 238 days until the start of the 2022 football season. If the Hotline were ever to ponder a scenario that appears extreme — a scenario that’s about five steps ahead of the current reality — this is the time.

And here we go:

Washington State might have just won the 2022 North division quarterback shuffle.

That’s right. The day the Cougars lost their promising young passer to the transfer portal, they might have set the stage for the best quarterback play in the division next season.

Jayden de Laura, the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year who tossed 23 touchdowns and led the Cougars to a second-place finish, entered the transfer portal on Friday.

That could prove a debilitating blow to WSU’s prospects for next season. If things don’t break right over the coming months, and if none of the remaining quarterbacks on the roster develop, then the Cougars could struggle offensively in their first full season under coach Jake Dickert.

But again, we’re playing the speculation game.

What if WSU replaces de Laura with a better quarterback … a quarterback few Pac-12 fans have ever heard of … a quarterback who has never played a down of Power Five football.

One of Dickert’s first moves upon being named to the permanent position was to hire Eric Morris as his offensive coordinator.

Morris is familiar with WSU, having served on Mike Leach’s first staff (2012). For the past four seasons, he has been the head coach at Incarnate Word, a Southland Conference (FCS) program based in San Antonio.

Incarnate Word’s quarterback this season, Cameron Ward, has entered the transfer portal. He’s one of the top passers in the country — not just in the FCS but all of Division I.

The 247Sports rating services lists Ward as the No. 3 quarterback in the portal, behind only Caleb Williams, formerly of Oklahoma, and Quinn Ewers, formerly of Ohio State. Ward is rated higher than Spencer Rattler (ex-Oklahoma) and Kedon Slovis (ex-USC).

On Dec. 8, WSU formally announced Morris as the new playcaller.

The next day, Ward entered the portal.

Ward will announce his destination Monday night. This past weekend, he tweeted that his finalists are Washington STate, Ole Miss, Prairie View A&M, Incarnate Word and Houston.

Call us crazy, but the Hotline suspects he’s headed to Pullman.

The crazy thing about this class is that we lost 2 (3 if you count Grayes who decommitted before Fisch) All- americans in Kyron Chambers and Zeke Berry and we are still a top 20 class currently.

I'm not sure I loved or hated during the All-American Bowl telecast when they said, and I am paraphrasing:

"I have never seen in all my years of doing this a team pull in a top 20 ranked recruiting class after a 1 win season"

We replaced Chambers (who was a late add to that game because he was local) with Prysock who is probably a better player/prospect.

We also lost Monday but got Ward who was going to Utah and really looks like a great player in the making.

In a way we exchanged Berry for Luke and I am pretty happy with that . Just amazing how good a job Fisch did with getting these guys when we lost some really good recruits.
