I would image GB and RR will test the strength of those handcuffs very soon

Starting to 'believe" RR likes AZ/P12. FWIW, GB mentioned this week on radio that his son changed his mind and decided to enroll at UA and not go out-of-state (will live in dorm)

Boom goes the dynamite.

That kid is going to live like a king the next 4 years. Especially if it all goes down as planned.

Just to wrap up the updated contracts. There was an add to GB's contract that was approved. It looks like it was added after the new contracts were first reported. It shows up in an amended contract document.

Nothing too major. About receiving some Charter air seats. Just thought I would throw out here:

 Byrne will receive 25 air charter seats and game tickets for guest of the men’s
basketball program for preseason non-conference exempt tournaments or
featured men’s basketball events for which charter airfare has been secured.
Only one designated trip per season will be permitted. Eligible guests are
defined as the spouse/partner and legal dependents under the age of 23 of
basketball staff members. Lodging and expenses for any additional rooms will
be at the expense of the guest.

 Byrne will receive 40 air charter seats and game tickets for guests of the football
and men’s basketball programs for post-season travel for which air charter has
been secured. Eligible guests are defined as the spouse/partner and legal
dependents under the age of 23 of Department of Intercollegiate Athletics staff
families. Lodging expenses for any additional rooms will be at the expense of the
guest.

I don't understand this comment.

What is there to test? Leave early, get nothing; it's all spelled out.

It's pretty simple to understand the comment actually. Testing the hypothetical handcuffs means testing their respective market value. How strong is the incentive to stay at UA for 8 years? Depends on how much the competition will pay to pry them away

well considering how big the incentives plus their current and future contracted pay...some team better be willing to pay RR a good 3.5 million+

if so, that means he would be going to a top 15 job in the country and did a great job here.

In that case, I rank the retention plan from least to most effective :
Miller - as long as he wants to be here the kind of offer he can't refuse and Arizona can't match is more than going to cover what he leaves on the table.
Byrne - Next job seems about climbing the ladder, and his half share is easier to compensate for.
RR - All the schools that could match the money are either big steps up in program, or big steps down in conference.

Scott Terreil has a nice look at how Rich Rod sits in Wildcat coaching history.
