ESPN Blog Top 25 players of 2014

Post by ANGCatFan »

ESPN Blog is starting their top 25 countdown of PAC 12 players from 2014.

Here is 21-25. No Wildcats in the first group, but quite a few big names. Makes me concerned we will see very few Wildcats on the list outside of Scooby (an almost guaranteed #2 on the list).

You think he's going to be higher up on the list than the other 3 backs that were 21-23?

I would guess the only one that at this point could be on it other than Scooby is actually Anu.

No. 21: Arizona State RB D.J. Foster
Statistics: 194 rushing attempts, 1,081 rushing yards, nine touchdowns

No. 22: UCLA RB Paul Perkins
Statistics: 251 rushing attempts, 1,575 rushing yards, nine touchdowns

No. 23: Oregon RB Royce Freeman
Statistics: 252 rushing attempts, 1,365 rushing yards, 18 touchdowns

Wilson:

Attempts: 236 Yards: 1375 Avg: 5.8 Long: 85 TDs: 16

So Wilson has more yards than 2 of them, and also more TDs than 2 of them.

So Nick is certainly in the mix at that range.

It would be some pretty solid praise for the freshman to be slotted in front of those three RBs (and others like Myles Jack). I hope he's on the list.

I will never understand the love for DJ Foster. Got most of his yards against bad teams and was invisible in some big games.

What were his receiving yards in those games?

His receiving yards were very consistent. In 10/13 games he had between 52-73 receiving yards.

Here's 11-15. No Wildcats and pretty much guarantees Scooby will be the only Wildcat in the top 25.

Whatever happened to the best WR corp in the PAC, and perhaps the nation? Austin Hill has half the yards and catches of his great sophomore year, and only 4 TDs.

We had the best WR corp in the PAC. Did you see Anu's numbers? Besides Hill we had Cayleb Jones, Samajie Grant, Trey Griffey, Nate Phillips, Davonte Neal, and David Richards all with over 20 catches on the season. With Hill coming off his knee injury and that much depth in the receiving corp, his numbers were bound to go down.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Definitely a SoCal slant to this poll. 3 from UCLA, 4 from USC, but none (yet) from the PAC-12 South champion? Scooby Wright will be at #2, but that's it.

Maybe he will be in the top five since he was so productive when he was in.

But I think the reason he may be left off is the time he missed

Scooby is No.2 in the Pac12: http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id ... rs-nos-1-5
No. 2: Arizona LB Scooby Wright
Statistics: 163 total tackles, 29 TFL, 14 sacks, 6 forced fumbles

Wright -- the Bronko Nagurski Award winner and the Lombardi Award winner -- led the conference with 163 total tackles (99 solo, 64 assisted) while averaging a sack per game. He also forced a Pac-12-best six fumbles. Wright is the only member of this season's top five who will return in 2015, making him the early front-runner for the No. 1 spot after the 2015 season.
And No.4 in the Nation: http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... 00-players

Wooot!!!
