Seriously,
When Stoops was let go by our very own Sun Devil AD, many morons (and many Sun Devils) celebrated.
Unless things change drastically, we are going to have a Super Bowl with prominent UA Stoops era players on both sides of the ball.
Congrats to these Cats and Bear Down

Stoops take a bow? Stoops wouldn't bring Nick in as a scholarship player. Made him walk on. Then wouldn't start him. Matt Scott practiced better, he said. I would say take a bow, Frank Scelfo. Scelfo is the guy who understood, not Stoops. So proud of Nick today. Couldn't happen to a better man.

As sunny Jim would say " it's a great day to be a Wildcat."
Except for gronk, I think he will have a headache tomorrow.

Stoops needed to go. His sideline behavior was ridiculous. And when your coach can't keep his wits about him, how do you expect players to respond in tense moments. The fact that Stoops hasn't taken another head job shows the lack of respect and consideration he's given within coaching circles. He arrived in Tucson as an arrogant and entitled coach. He did a good job of turning things around after Mackovic. But it was clear he had already reached his ceiling at Arizona.

Pretty good revisionist history... Stoops recruited some good talent, but he didn't exactly WIN with that talent, now did he?

Lol....stoops sat nick cause he wasn’t a practice player and only brought him in cause his practice is player Matt Scott couldn’t execute. Now Foles the gamer is going to be playing in the ultimate game.
Stoops couldnt coach himself out of a paper bag.

Flowers was indeed a Stoops guy but wasn’t as effective at safety as we’d hoped. The 3-3-5 with the hybrid spots turned out to be a perfect fit for him - they moved him to LB, and since he had already been a safety and knew the position, the hybrid nature of his spot in the 3-3-5 suited him really well. He blew up after that and started looking like an NFL player. The 3-3-5 may have its faults but for Flowers it worked out great.

If one of those guys hadn’t sat out we would have had as rose bowl too. You have to wonder how much that eats up Stoops to this day.

This.
They couldn't identify NIck's gifts until Matt couldn't hit a frickin' brick building running wide open down Iowa's secondary. They said "What the fuck...put Sunshine in" and he never left the spot.
Same thing happened in the pros. Nick plays when the lights are on.
As for firing Stoops...it had to happen. He was a mess. Seriously...talk to Duane Akina about the fucking mess he saw...

Which one? Nick was in by PAC play. The Iowa game in 2009 was the final straw.
Or not NIck
How about our students vs Oregon? Did we get 15 on that kickoff that allowed Masoli time, or is that misremembering?
Win that game, we are 7-2, tied with Oregon, and win the tie breaker.
1 minute. Fuck.
(Edited to correct 2010 to 2009)

Stoops also gave most the carries to 5'7" Antolin when Ka'Deem MFing Carey was a freshman.
Not a good judge of NFL talent was he?

Ahh...you mean Gronk.
Yeah...no...he couldn't have played.
But now I get it...you didn't mean Stoops sat them.

Agree. What Stoops inherited was so bad. He was able to get the program back up and bowl eligible. Too bad his off-the-field escapades distracted his job as head football coach.

Eh.....
Could’ve used a little less of that energy and passion directed at the referees on game day and more of it directed at recruiting so that maybe just once he could have won 9+ games.

Yeah I don't really give Stoops as much credit as some people may obviously.. Sure he inherited a disaster but the guy couldn't care less about practice, then would flip out during games. At least RR was consistently a dick at both. He would also bitch at coaches for getting mad at Juron not following rules. He created some entitled people. What was his quote about not being able to win at Arizona? Like a sword fight with a toothpick? Reminds me of people okay with being a mediocre perennial 7 win team.

That reminds me of the posters on here who said we can't get anyone good to coach here, and we'll never compete with the likes of USC and Oregon. Oh, and we'll never get anyone better than Rich Rod.

Foles couldn't reach the field under Stoops cause Scott was supposedly much better, and a better practice player to boot! UA fans had to suffer with the anointed starter, Scott finally goes out, Foles goes in, clearly the better qb.
Tate couldn't reach the field under RR cause Dawkins was supposedly much better, and a better practice player to boot! UA fans had to suffer with the anointed starter, Dawkins finally goes out, Tate goes in, clearly the better qb.
Lesson: our coaches sucked.
