Yeah, it'll be interesting to watch how approaches differ from district to district and county to county. I suspect if Maricopa County issued a similar suggestion, there would be a number of districts there that would continue to play, like in the east and west Valley areas, with short notice rescheduling as needed. Within school districts, it has a lot to do with the philosophy of a given district's school board and superintendent. Based on that, I'd expect TUSD to announce a shut-down very soon. I believe it's supposed to be during a board meeting per open meeting laws, but I'm sure lots of people have been working the phones behind the scenes. Or perhaps individual schools making the announcement gets around that, as well as avoiding facing the public. But no high school principal would make such a decision without checking with the superintendent, and I doubt many superintendents would without consulting with their school board members, as they want a common approach across a district. The shutdown of an oversized district like TUSD in a relatively small county like Pima would make scheduling difficult, so that may force the issue, as Justin suggests. But, we'll see. In any event, a quick check of my most recent list of scores shows that Pima County had about 13% of the schools playing football in Arizona last Friday. So, regardless, I'll keep putting up the scores for whatever schools keep playing, if any.

And Amphitheater. Looks like Pima County will unilaterally shut down. At this juncture in the season, it would be pointless to suspend play for a few weeks, then re-start. We'll see how it goes in Phoenix and elsewhere.
