I will be happy with a match-up vs Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl

I just hope for Vegas personally. I can go to the game on Vegas plus the basketball game before. All good whatever happens though

So you want a bowl that pays Arizona less of a payout?

Last years payout:
Alamo Bowl: $8,252,740
Las Vegas Bowl: $2,900,000

For someone who always goes on about getting the football team more money this is very selfish of you.

Just sayin'.

Looking at payouts, we want the Alamo bowl. Holiday only pays $6,532,700

Not to sound ignorant but does the bowl payouts go directly to the school or to the conference to then be split?

Has only played 13 snaps since the Oregon St game. Not sure if it's due to injury or doghouse. We are winning though so I will just go with the Flowe.

The teams expenses are subtracted from the payout and the rest is split among the conference members.

https://fifthquarter.net/uncategorized/ ... l-payouts/

The bigger payout means that the UA can afford more expenses (Heekes wife going with him) and maybe some band members. The payout will not likely be impacted because another Pac12 school will take our place and the proceeds will be split anyways.

Siempre Verde wrote: Sun Nov 26, 2023 8:47 am Oy, while that potential matchup is interesting, is there no pathway to the Holiday Bowl? I went to the last UofA Alamo Bowl appearance. It wasn’t pleasant…and not just because UofA lost. UofA was pummeled in their last Holiday Bowl and it rained like crazy, but it was in all ways better to be in San Diego for a game than San Antonio.
I would not say there is ZERO pathway, but it appears highly unlikeldy the Alamo Bowl committee will not invite the UA. The Alamo bowl had been hoping to invite USC, (LA media market, big name, Heisman trophy winner) but with their collapse the last couple of weeks they appear to have dropped off the radar. I have also read that the bowl folks think that it is increasingly likely that Caleb Williams will opt of of whatever bowl they are invited to in order to avoid injury prior to the draft.

Kind of hard to play like shit with 13 total snaps over that span. Unless those 13 snaps were the equivalent of Mark McDonald trying to kick a Field Goal I think the coaching staff might just like playing some of the other guys more. Ka’aihue, Mercier, Brown, and occasionally Heimuli have seemingly supplanted Flowe on the depth chart.

No doubt we are a lock for the Alamo. Utah doesn’t have a QB. The Beavs don’t have a coach and USC has a QB that probably won’t play.

We are the hottest team outside the playoff group in college football. A fan base tgat has t gone to a bowl since 2017. So freaking excited for this, can’t wait. Hope you all buy tickets and we sell out of our allotment

I missed most of the 1st quarter, so I actually didn't. Just didn't think 13 total plays in 4 games could have shown how bad someone was, guess I was wrong.

You can donate them if you can't go. UA will see to it they go to a local charity or military personnel

7 total responses. Of those, three could be considered negative:

“Boooo should be Vegas and fans can watch FB and MBB on the same day”
“Too bad it’s not the Sun Bowl”
“I know the Alamo pays out nicely but still a shitty bowl and location lol”

So three random people on Twitter are going to cause the Alamo Bowl to pass over the hottest team in CFB for Utah? Jeff Dean seems to be trolling for reactions, and doing it quite well. There’s over double the number of responses to his tweet as to Pederson’s.

I think once we have about three or more 9 or 10 win seasons in a row under our belt, then we can be picky publicly and be insulting to other cities because their bowl just isn't right for us. We haven't been to a bowl game in how long? I think we take the bowl they hand us and say thank you very much, we'll be there and we're going to bring a zillion fans. I swear some of you would gripe if you got hung with a new rope.

Well unfortunately once we join the big 12, we have to start looking to the Midwest and east for our bowls. Unless the tie ins change a lot(which they might with the PAC 12 ending) we may be playing a lot of bowls in Texas

We lived downtown for 5 years; above the convention center; 10 minute walk from the Dome. The last time the Spurs won the championship was absolute euphoria.

If not for the humidity and the lack of a western sky we'd still be there .... and 15 lbs heavier.

More like $135K since the PAC splits bowl receipts after expenses.

($8.25M - $6.5M) / 13

assuming expenses are about one share. UA played in too many toilet bowl games where the PAC lost money and had to make up the difference, so it's time to pay that back.

The Arizona bowl in Tucson only pays $350K.
