Bear Down Wildcats

Maldonado is a 6-0, 195, Junior safety from Chandler, AZ. In the past 2 years he has played in 21 games with 15 starts. Last year, Maldonado had 48 tackles (2 for loss), 3 forced fumbles, and 1 pass breakup. This year he is a team captain and competing for a starting spot at safety. He appears to be a player that coaches and teammates trust more than the fans and sportswriters.

He’s going to need to have a big year if this defense is going to stop anyone.

Used to be that safeties would help over the top mostly but with teams going 5 wide you now get those guys in single coverage and they can’t cover.

I like the dollar package Nansen uses. 7 DB’s which allows a guy like Maldonado to roll and help. I think that package is why he had an uptick late in the year. He certainly can tackle pretty well
