Does anyone know the status of Ricky Hunley and Chuck Cecil? I hear the reviews on them to date are mixed at best.

When Jedd took his staff to UDub those were only the only 2 he left, so that will tell you something although I hope CBB keeps them on as position coaches.

Those two are attached to Arizona. I don't think they would have gone had they been asked. We still don't know their status.

At San Jose, Brennan had OL coach Oglesby as his "running game coordinator" and his WR coach (who stayed at San Jose) was his "passing game coordinator." So, I'd guess Brennan does the overall play-calling, as Fisch did? Not sure what role coordinators play in that kind of set-up, but he's got Oglesby here in the same role, and TE coach Matt Adkins in the passing game role. I believe we have one remaining position, so anybody have any insight as to whether we're going to go 6 defensive coaches with Danny Gonzales and what the delay is with his announcement, or are we done on D and we'll add another offensive coach?

My point was they were never going to go with Jediliar to Udub even if they were top assistants or recruiters.

From what I’ve heard, Brennan doesn’t call plays. That will be up to his OC. So Dino Babers will be doing the play calling.

Dino learned under Homer Smith when he was here during the mid 1990s, when Homer was Tomey's OC. Homer got sick and Dino took over a loaded roster in 1998 and set records with Smith, OJ, Trung, Northcutt, McDaniel, and some guy named Brad Brennan. Homer and Dino both run a pro set, very similar to the offense Fisch runs, which is based on the Fun n Gun Spurrier offense. Lots of crossing routes, and play action set up by the run game.

Dino's been around, and had some good years as the head guy at E. Illinois and Bowling Green. But success didn't follow him at Cuse, minus one, 10-win season.

I don't know about anybody else, but having watched this stuff for more decades than I'd care to admit, that's one hell of a coaching staff under Brennan. Two former head coaches, the well-respected Duane Akina, a number of coaches in the same role they had at San Jose, some up-and-coming young blood, and a couple of WIldcat legends. And lots of continuity (at least from the San Jose way of doing things) with their chief of staff and S&C coach. So now that's all set, let's get after the portal, plug some holes, and add some depth.

Where the assistants will earn their salaries is tailoring a system this coming year where they can maximize our current talents (ie - an OLine that holds up for +:05 to allow for WR crossing routes at multiple field depths which gets TMac open in space and speedy guys open down the field later on hitch & go’s) but then also go out and recruit the kids that fit their ideal system and be able to talk them through how they’ll fit.

Fisch had guys who could recruit and scheme. I really fucking hope these guys are the same.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

I had to read it twice to make sense of it. Chuck will analyze the opposing team's offense to set up defensive plays.

I certainly don't mind that Chuck is around. It is difficult to just fire a legend so keeping him in some capacity is probably a good idea. The same goes for Ricky Hunley.
