Dawkins is a 6-3, 210, redshirt Junior QB from Oxnard, CA. Started 9 and played in 10 games last year and his 944 yards rushing was 5th highest among QBs last year and just short of B.J. Denker's Arizona record. His 7.21 yards a carry ranked him 19th among all FBS rushers. Where Dawkins struggled was in the passing game. He completed just 98 of 182 attempts for 1348 yards with 8 TDs and 6 interceptions. His 54% completion percentage will need to improve to get the offense back on track.
13 was the number of passing TDs Arizona had last year. That tied Oregon St. for worst in the league.

If he is able to graduate then good for him if he wants to transfer to start. Another off season with D Tate should put him in a spot where he can be the backup.

No matter what he decides, he should be pulled aside and told his future is not at QB and that he will be used and high lighted in the offense if he stays next year. He should get some NFL GM feedback to help sell that as he is a really good athlete who could get to the league at another position.
Allowing him to transfer is a nice story but does the young man no good in the long run. He need a frank conversation about his future in football

The main thing Brandon Dawkins needs to do immediately is change his number from "13".
13 seems to bring him the wrong karma.
The pros will give him a shot at WR with the knowledge he has at QB

Hope Dawks finds great success at his next destination. That being said, I’m hopeful we soon have a stable of qb’s that know and feel if given the chance they can succeed at Arizona and are willing to stick it out.
Quit what, being a backup? As a grad student, it is this year or never. I could see calling him a quitter if he had more years ahead of him. But he didn't. Choosing to not ride the bench is as legit as the coaches choosing an underclassman over an upperclassman.
Starting QBs get injured too, and backups can get plenty of minutes. No one knows that better than Dawkins.
In any event, going to a FCS school might have been a better option. Cal Poly runs the Triple Option, so you really don't need to be a sharp passer here to play QB.
Should have moved to wide out a few years ago IMO. Dude also needs to be an announcer because he is pretty personable. Good luck Dawk!!

Always gonna remember the way he torched ASU in '16 on the ground. I was laughing my a** off during that game every time they rattled off another 50+ yard play.
That game was hilarious. No one expected us to do anything because our backs were Samajie Grant and Zach Green. And then we rush for 511 yards and 7 tds and Dawk only completes 3 passes all game

One of which was a long TD to a wide open Nate Phillips. No passes even attempted in the second half. It was a thing of beauty and the biggest troll job Arizona has ever pulled on ASU.

To Whom This May Concern:
Football has been a life changer for me. It has introduced me to friends who have become family. It has given me a platform to be in people’s life, and I have always tried to use that to share a smile. I have always done everything in my power to help others, even if that may just be a simple joke that ignited a smile. Football has also helped me get to college and obtain my degree. Not to mention all of the life skills that it has tough me and memories it has given me that will last the rest of my life.
The most important thing to me though has been the joy that the game always brought me. Over the last couple years I lost touch with that joy. I respect and love the game, but I have lost touch with it. I am not too proud to admit that I needed help. I am grateful for the sports psychology team at both Arizona and Indiana for helping me at some of the lowest points in my life. The game has getting me depressed and hurting my well-being.
As my mental health is deteriorating I have decided to take a break from the game. I know now that I need to take care of ME. I need to make myself important. I have not properly taken care of myself. Do I know what’s next? Of course not, but I do know God has a plan that is way bigger than any plans I could ever imagine for myself. I hope you can respect my privacy during this time, and my decision. Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Brandon
