Re: Jedd Fisch
I'm not sad. Ex-players are pretty clear they feel like they were lied to and ignored. Fans were fairly clearly lied to and ignored.
I'm honestly in a place where I hope this goes poorly. We've never been that good and everything about the decision merits scorn.
Edit: for clarity, I don't ever with people personal harm or anything like that. I don't live my life with that negativity. I just hope Arizona football loses a lot of games.

Re: Jedd Fisch
Who the fuck knows. Maybe him having 0 faith or approval from fans, donors, and alums will light a crazy fire under him to crush everyone. But that seems incredibly unlikely based on his resume. He just struck gold and can retire comfortably at 50 now if he wants to.

It's true his enthusiasm is contagious. He's been head coach about 30 min and I'm already enthusiastic about spending more time with my wife and less time watching Arizona football.

It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

So I decided to do all 3.

Taking how disappointed I was with the hire out, his press conference was fine. Pretty much said what you would expect a new coach to say and he was at least prepared.

Re: Jedd Fisch
I don't disagree with this. He's certainly not a deer in the headlights type like Sumlin and you can tell he's got that Jersey attitude-thing going on.
He talks a good game but on paper it still doesn't look good.
Re: Jedd Fisch
Someone on wikipedia has a sense of humor:
Honestly I am not impressed with this hire at all. His resume speaks to me as someone who has commitment issues. As the QB coach of New England this year he did a terrible job as Cam Newton has been pretty awful (only 5 passing TDs this season). This is one way to absolutely not win the press conference.
I suppose it isn't possible we could pull what ASU did with June Jones and have the University retract this hire, can we?

Re: Jedd Fisch
Not that you guys care too much what I think but I liked him the one year he was at UCLA. Some fans wanted him to get the job before Kelly came into the picture. I think he'll be better than Brennan would have been, but I agree with most of the sentiment that he really shouldnt have been a candidate from the start.

I want to see his staff selection. Shit he knows almost everyone in football so maybe he can recruit some top name assistants.

Don't worry. There's a chance he'll probably be back at UCLA next year looking at his resume.MrBug708 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 1:45 pm Not that you guys care too much what I think but I liked him the one year he was at UCLA. The good news is win or loose he probably won't be here more than a couple of years based upon his record.

Re: Jedd Fisch
Let's wish him well. Offensive transfers will probably be drawn to his resume. Our QB may recommit and stop transferring. I hope for the best. He should be traveling to re-recruit some of our players and let the rest go. He needs a GREAT staff.

Haha, OK, who is this?
Re: Jedd Fisch
I don't fucking care if you can recite the names of some of the most famous names in college sports. That would be like me interviewing at Apple and shouting out Steve Jobs and Tim Cook.
I. Want. Fucking. Results.
And his resume is entirely lacking on those.

Re: Jedd Fisch
As naive fans and hurt alumni, it's time we stopped looking to the sociopaths in charge of our precious Arizona sports commodities to do the democratic thing and actually listen to us.
The person who the powerful find easiest to control is the inevitable hire, until something dramatic changes. It explains Larry Scott's and Dave Heeke's inexplicable extensions, it explains Sumlin and now Fisch.
For the poster earlier in this thread, no, I didn't forget about Stoops. He had his drinking issues that made his wife an ex- at Arizona too.
If you want the big contract going forward, here's the only thing you need to know: Drink-talk your way up.
Robert Robbins can show you how.

So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies. Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about.
But trust me.... You don't.
I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you don't know what you are talking about.
This is how bad info gets passed around.
If you dont know about the topic....Dont make yourself sound like you do.
Cos some people believe anything they hear.
All he needs is hire good capable coaching staff and recruit well.
I would not worry about what everyone on here will say.
That them not you or me or anyone else.
Let just see how it play out.
If he succeed? He succeed.
If he fail? Well he fail.

Re: Jedd Fisch
Is it surprising to see Scheer trying to spin this as good? Jesus Christ what a farse. Jed is a cuck of a hire. Fucking clown car of a football program.
Re: Jedd Fisch
And what does that suppose to mean? I got nothing do with it. All i see is we hired a HC to take over this football and hope some good would come out of it. Unless you want to be like Chi and run for UA President to undo it.
I could care less. I'm not throwing a god damn fit.

Hey! UA had a great tradition in the 1940's Border Conference. Had to ruin it all by going to the WAC.cordera89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 2:32 pmUA football has no proud tradition. I didn't want the SJSU coach either but our program is so bad that we seem to only attract bottom of the barrel hires. Heck, I'd prefer Todd Graham over the choices we've ended up being able to obtain.RondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 2:42 pmNeeds sources inside the program I guess.

Most coaches taking over bad programs have a losing record after 3 seasons. If this guy doesn't have the brain power to understand why, or is just interested in stirring shit up, then just GTFORondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 2:42 pmNeeds sources inside the program I guess.

It means that when it comes to people in charge who couldn't care less about winning, alumni or the fans abusing their power and blowing millions that could have gone to laid-off employees on cronies, you are their most useful of idiots.cordera89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 2:38 pmAnd what does that suppose to mean? Not that you're alone, to be sure. There are four or five other clueless goobers on Twitter posting the usual spineless drivel like "Well, it happened, let's move on and support the coach the best we can!"
You're just meaner and ruder about it. Which is great for people like Robert Robbins, who will never be held accountable even if they give the worst possible hire a golden parachute--as occurred here--so long as they have such useful idiots cheerleading such decisions.

Baffling how some are saying he said "all the right things" because he knows who Tedy fucking Bruschi and Steve Kerr are lmao

I’m sure that’s just a sleight of hand selection of words to make this all seem intentional and well executed.
Re: Jedd Fisch
Got some texts I will quote instead of screenshot because obvious reasons:
People I know still in athletics say Robbins straight overruled Heeke. Heeke had Brennan ready and the whole staff had the graphics and release and everything ready. Robbins straight said no and hired Fisch

Re: Jedd Fisch
He connected well with Rosen and was (and probably still has been) the best OC Rosen has played with. Could have been the Jewish connection, and Fisch did good work at the spot and with playcalling. I think he ends up being a nomad because he's chasing jobs, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. He's coached really terrible QB's in the NFL. He came to UCLA from Michigan when he was the passing game coordinator. But he hitched his wagon with Jim Mora. The offensive line was shit under Klemm and the defense was garbage, so it didn't work. But the season wasnt a failure because of Fisch, he was the bright spot IMO. I like him, I think he'll probably do better than people expect, but I don't think Arizona should be the program giving him the shot at a head coach spot, so I get the anger.
