Al and Odogg and BC with some good points.

many teams vying for a number one seed have been eliminated as each game and week passes (the pool is small now) there are only about ten teams left that could get a number one and about sixteen to twenty that could be top eight.

from AZ's perspective, they are right in the top four of the top sixteen as of today with only two loses.

as mentioned previously, most of the teams in the mix are playing another ranked opponent this week or have already played in the case of Kansas/Texas and Duke who played unranked Virginia and lost.

just today:

#18 Marquette is at #24 Uconn
#1 Auburn, #3 Kentucky, and #15 Villanova are on the road
#14 Wisconsin plays at #17 Michigan State
#13 Illinois visits #3 Purdue

all this adds up to AZ being in a perfect spot as things have broken nicely, not yet perfectly, but nicely.

i think Gonzaga goes undefeated the rest of the way
i think Auburn losses two to three more times
i think Kentucky ends up being a #1 Seed
i think Duke is a lock for a #2
i think Arizona will be the #1 Seed in the South or East Region

Gun to my head, I’d say in a month I see the 1 seeds as:
Zags
Purdont
UK
Kansas

The twos
Houston
Arizona
Dook
Auburn

Auburn has been winning some games pretty close that they should be winning handily, they keep doing that they are going to drop a couple.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Yeah like Auburn, KU has won a bunch of close games. Let's hope they lose some more.

Duke as lock #2 seed is ridiculous at this point

They're more likely than not to fall to the 3 line

The ACC is more trashy than the PAC this year and that’s saying something.

ya i know agree but their schedule is super puss the rest of the way and they shouldnt lose again and others will - the losses at home to unranked Miami and then Virginia will keep them off the #1 line.

the win at Illinois may be the best non conf road win of the season in the committees eyes outside of perhaps Kentucky at Kansas.

the win in Champagne carries major weight in all of this for Arizona.

Auburn loses but is still a clear #1 seed. They have a game lead on Kentucky but have already beaten them the first time.

Auburn is going to have to lose two more games (including vs Kentucky) to drop out of the 1 seed.

agree, barely

but more importantly, their profile now next to Arizona's is inferior - neutral floor loss to #22Uconn and road loss at unranked Arkansas.

best wins are #16LSU and #12Kentucky at home and at #24Alabama in early January.

the loss doesnt effect Kentucky at all, but the margin for error to stay on the one line is pretty thin for Auburn.

as an Arizona supporter i loved the unranked loss.

I love the unranked losses - especially if they have one at home.

The problem is these teams like Auburn and Purdue have so many more ranked teams on their schedule compared to Arizona. Even if they lose a couple of more games if they are against ranked teams the impact won't be as bad.

F*ck the Pac for always getting out of the gate slow against non-conference, weaker opponents.

Auburn's loss doesn't move them off the 1 line- just brings them closer to the field.

Purdue is solidly on 1 line now.

Here’s the teams I think can/will win it all:

Gonzaga
Purdue
Kentucky
Arizona

Dook
Kansas

Houston
UCLA

I don’t know who else I’d include. Maybe Baylor

Houston lost to SMU tonite 85-83 in my opinion neither team deserved to win...you don't foul a 3 pt attempt with 2.6 left SMU...but also you don't miss the rim and go early on a free throw attempt Houston...

And they did that twice. You would think Sampson would have told them what the rule was after the first time

Michigan not even doing anything special offensively, that's just how absolutely terrible Purdue's defense had been this season
Purdue is absolutely dreadful defensively the whole season and this is what happens when their lights out offense doesn't show up

They're prime upset material

Washington st was 36 in kenpom and 37 in the net.

That was a win that will mean something to the committee.

Lots of games to be played. Seeds are never as important as matchups. Iowa St scored 110 tonight? Guy made ten threes. Pretty special night for a few guys. That is the kind of hot shooting team that can take anyone out of the tourney.

As far as matchups, if Arizona continues to win vs the easy part of the conference schedule, Arizona is likely to get the #1 seed....

To me Auburn is a bad matchup, hopefully they stay #1 because if they fall into #2 seed they're likely to be Arizona's #2 over Baylor

Btw, Lunardi currently has Duke as the #2 in the west and Kentucky as the #2 in east.

Guys, can we just pause to acknowledge how wild it is that our main conversation on 2/11 is whether we will be a #1 seed? Don’t wanna lose sight of how incredible the job our players and coaches have done this year has been.

Wasn’t ucla supposed to win the Pac with ease and be in the top 5? Guess not.

I loved CSM. He scrambled and worked his ass off when he couldn't get players in the states. He had his career ended by a hack and reinforced by the one eyed trouser trout and his friends. I think the only reason Vitale is out is because he was sucking Coach K so hard that K has to retire.

That being said, Tommy has taken fundamentally talented players and added his own spin which has made them better. I think his style of play will get top transfers if it takes awhile to cement his recruiting. The one thing that I can guarantee Tommy and Miller share is a low tolerance for the media. He has his press conference lately timed and interrupted when that time is over. He has also called them out on multiple occasions by saying "I just answered that", I'll leave that to you to research" and "your not pulling me into that issue". He does not suffer fools easily witch is very Miller.

Lot of top 25 in action today but most are playing at home so I don't expect many upsets. Games I will keep an eye on (besides AZ):

Ohio St @ Michigan
Texas @ Baylor
UCLA @ USC
