I definitely expect Veesaar to make the sophomore leap. He showed flashes this past season, and once he starts getting more minutes/reps, he's going to start improving quickly.

And yeah, Pelle has two options: start at AZ or play pro ball overseas.
I'm waiting for pictures on Henri's weight gain, and shows of strength!! BTFD!!!
Beat me too it. He needs to get much stronger and we certainly know how our S&C team can work wonders.
I'm assuming a leap too - maybe not Ballo size, but at least a contributor

100%

My enduring memory of his freshman season was him repeatedly getting pushed way off the block by guys six inches shorter than him.

Is he staying in Tucson over the summer? I imagine the same case is also true for Pelle since both were FIBA players.

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup runs from Fri, Aug 25, 2023 - Sun, Sep 10, 2023.

Thought I read Scheer said that Dennis Rodman's son transferred to USC, so a good sign for UA.

Keshad is an Oakland kid that just spent several years in San Diego. Lexington, KY is a very nice college town, but is far from home, and may be a bit of a culture shock. Can't ever fault a kid for choosing to go to Kentucky for basketball, but if geography and non-basketball culture play a role in Keshad's decision, then have to believe that favors Arizona. Might not be a factor at all, but could possibly tip things in our favor if everything else is close.

Totally, but in this version of musical chairs, we could end up with two or three transfers to give us the roster depth needed for a FF run.

That’s fair. I’ve seen multiple SDSU fans on Twitter saying they weren’t sure why he was even starting most of the year.

I wouldn’t count on him for anything but dunks and layups.

What they're saying...
With college basketball’s transfer portal now closed, who are the biggest winners and losers?

Losers

Arizona

There are other programs who lost more. There are other programs who lost more and didn’t sign players who could be like-for-like replacements. But it’s tough to match the Liu Kang-worthy combo the Wildcats took in this trip through the portal.

First, the point guard who started 70 of the 76 games he played over three seasons, a guy who averaged nearly 30 minutes a night across his college career, up and left. Highly unusual. But let’s be generous and say Arizona saw Kriisa’s departure coming, and maybe even eventually was OK with it, because Arizona had a pretty good idea of who it would hand the controls to in 2023-24. And then that guy, Nembhard, didn’t wind up in Tucson at all. He wound up, in fact, choosing to play at Gonzaga, for the guy coach Tommy Lloyd used to work for. All’s fair, of course … but that is some eat-your-young stuff.

So here’s the part where Arizona fans justifiably point to the arrival of Jaden Bradley, a former five-star recruit who scuffled in his freshman season at Alabama but nevertheless assisted on nearly 27 percent of scores while he was on the floor. It’s absolutely possible that Lloyd unlocks something in Bradley and the player evolves into something superior than the guy he more or less replaced. There’s plenty of time (and eligibility) left to make that happen. For now, though, Bradley remains a relatively unknown quantity. And Arizona probably didn’t expect to be unsure of what it had in its presumptive starting point guard, twice over.

2022 vs 2023 (at this point)

Kerr vs. Bradley
Very close- advantage Bradley (only because he will fit better with his backcourt mate)

Ramey vs Boswell
Advantage Boswell- give Bam Bam a full offseason of basketball work instead of rehab, and lookout

Henderson vs. Pelle
Advantage Pelle- I expect to see what we wanted last year

Tubelis vs. Veesaar
Tubelis. Easy.

Ballo vs. Ballo
Give me the ‘23 version. He keeps getting better.

’22 Bench (Pelle, Boswell, Veesaar) vs. ‘23 Bench (Lewis, Boro, Anderson)
Advantage- ‘22.

I reserve the right to change my mind, depending on additions through off season.

If we get the SDSU guy along with another scoring guard off the bench we should be fine.

The fact that Athletic article did not reference Boswell (didn't open the link so assuming that's all they said about AZ) means that analysis was shoddy at best.

Agree with ECC, talk about lazy reporting. Boswell will take the reins at PG and play Krissa minutes. Most expect him to have a huge year so that part of the article seems like a big swing and a miss.

I would give AZ an incomplete st this point. Let’s see how this offseason winds up

If we can pick up a solid PF (Johnson or Nkamouha), and a decent sized fairly athletic G/W that can score/shoot at a decent clip we will be fine.

Interested to see what improvements we can get from Anderson, Henri, and Filip after their first year and a full offseason

Boswell is listed in at least two 2024 NBA mock drafts, including one by Jonathan Givoney, from ESPN. (https://www.on3.com/teams/kentucky-wild ... ock-draft/). Given that Krissa has never appeared in a single mock draft report for the NBA, I’d have to say that there are a number of “experts” out there who expect Boswell to “have a huge year” next year, and a significantly better one than Kerr. He may not quite make that type of leap, but I’d venture to guess that Sophmore-Boswell >> Junior Krissa, and probably better than Senior-Krissa. There is no need to be aggressively contrary. A little research will find you the “evidence” that you are asking for.

I think it's his opinion which a lot of people on this board have, which is fine.

I also think that Goodman & the other guy podcast had positive remarks about Boswell being one of our backcourt starters.

OK, I asked the wrong question. I too see Boswell as being a really good guard next year. But, that is NOT the need, eh?

Will he have as good a year as the POINT GUARD? I'll ask that, because, as awesome he was, he was not nearly as good at PG as Kerr this past year.

That's all I'm saying. If everyone (the coaches, the fans, the "experts< believed that, going so strong for Nembhard would have been a much lower priority!

Honestly, I hope he does fulfill that role, AND that Bradley lives up to his 5-star potential!!!

I think most on this board and his coaches and teammates. If you look at his numbers last year it’s not hard to conclude ge should have had more minutes.

The post is not a knock on Krissa but rather what I thought was lazy reporting. He compared Krissa with Bradley when I think Boswell should have been the comparison while Bradley would be compared to Ramey. Just my 2 cents
