Big 10 is bidding and Fox may be big in it. Can the PAC12 get more ESPN time if that happens?

The Pac-12 Network national feed is no longer available on Cox in Phoenix.

So $4.5 million short for each school x 12 schools, being conservative = $54 million short as a whole. In what profession can you consistently run far below expectations, $54 million in under one year alone to be exact, and still have a job? Especially factoring the Ed Rush scandal, the continued poor quality of officiating, the fiasco with viewership in this tournament, etc....

I think it was Cox that decided to pull it, not the network. Call and tweet and email everyday. Don't need it until September though.

I'm not necessarily a fan of this tactic, but it may be that the best thing for PAC12 fans to do is to start contacting the advertisers. Hit them on social media with the old "I won't buy your product if you support the PAC12 network in its current form."

I don't feel that way at all. Those are the same longwinded, rambling, boringly calm responses he's always given. Remember the post-game interviews with Brian Jeffries where he'd just go on in detail about the numbers on the stat sheet?

I turned it on earlier today and it was like ASU vs. Cal in women's tennis. So yeah, basically out of service.

Big 10 gonna make bank while Larry Scott is still nickle and diming it.

http://www.testudotimes.com/maryland-te ... t-fox-espn" target="_blank

The Big Ten is nearing an agreement to sell half its annual media rights package to Fox, the Sports Business Journal's John Ourand and Michael Smith reported on Tuesday afternoon. The reporters say the agreement could be worth up to $250 million over six years depending on if the Big Ten also sells Fox the other half of its media rights, or what it gets out of ESPN, CBS or whomever.

That suggests the Big Ten could collect $1.5 billion on a deal centered around its TV rights over six years. The current Big Ten deal with ESPN is for $1 billion over 10 years, plus a basketball-only deal worth $72 million (comparatively small potatoes) for six years.

Two years ago, Big Ten schools were expecting to pull in about $45 million annually from the conference once the league negotiated a new TV deal. These terms suggest they'll get about $18 million per year just from half their outside TV and media rights, not even accounting for revenues from the Big Ten Network, postseason appearance payouts, ticket sales and merchandising. The numbers could get huge:

Honestly no idea what is taking them and the presidents so long to make a change. I doubt ESPN r Fox would even want to partner with the network until Scott is out of the process completely.

You hit on an interesting point. First I agree with why is it taking them so long. This is at least the second year where the league has come up what appears to be $50M to $100M short for the year of where they should be which, without even getting into the significant technical issues, should be enough to fire him.

But even worse, as you mention, this really might not even be fixable in the best way possible (or even potentially in a good way) with Scott involved in the process. At this point it would not at all be surprising for the decision makers at these networks to confide (if they were quietly asked) that Scott has somewhat (or completely) poisoned the well with them.

It's very difficult to understand why the Presidents would put up with this. Very, very difficult.

Comcast to switch Pac-12 feeds, giving UA fans more football, hoops

By Bruce Pascoe Arizona Daily Star Jun 4, 2016 (1)

Comcast/Xfiniti has agreed to “flip-flop” Pac-12 Networks channels starting July 1, meaning its basic-tier customers throughout the West will continue to receive Arizona football and men’s basketball games.

Comcast will replace regional Pac-12 Networks feeds with the national feed on its “digital starter” basic tier, and move the six regional feeds to a “sports entertainment package” which costs an extra $10 a month. The national feed will be in HD, with the regionals in standard definition, at least for now.

I concur. I cut the cord and have Playstation Vue. It's awesome. For $35 a month I get a cloud dvr that can pause tv and record shows and I have like 70 channels including espn, espn2, espnu, big 10 network, sec network, fs1, Fox sports arizona...but no Pac 12.

Pac-12 Networks partner with Sling TV for over-the-top service

The Pac-12 Networks on Thursday announced a long-awaited (by some) distribution deal that will change the options for viewing its content. It’s not DirecTV, but it will mitigate the frustration felt from that ongoing stalemate.

All six Pac-12 Networks regional feeds — that means all the live events — will be available through Sling TV starting today.

For those unfamiliar, Sling is an over-the-top service, which means its content comes over the internet. You don’t have to subscribe to a traditional cable or satellite distributor (Comcast, U-verse, DirecTV).

Pac-12 fans frustrated by the lack of a deal with DirecTV but unwilling to leave the satellite provider — how many fit into that category at this point, I don’t know — can have both.

Sling can be viewed on any screen, and yes, that includes the 60-inch, wall-mounted version.
