Hasn’t that been asked and answered a few times?
Yep
Probably. I didn't mean to retread the same territory. Just looking for an update on the guy. These recruitments can be a little crazy.Chicat wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 4:11 amHasn’t that been asked and answered a few times?
Our chances are not great.
Considering how terribly that program has performed recently, it's a miracle they continue to draw top tier talent.
When you see the recruiting guys writing articles and hyping up visits, you know we’ve got a good shot. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.Beachcat97 wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 5:08 pmProbably. Gonzaga is tough to beat these days.
I have no idea where he ultimately ends up, because neither does Zoom. UW is offering the biggest payday, but with the caveat of a very unstable situation with its coaching staff. Gonzaga has always been the no brainer and I always felt that in the end that's where he'd end up, but Few may get tired of waiting here. USC & Bama are heavily involved and could easily poach him. I just don't think the role he'd want year 1 is available at Arizona, although if certain guys play out of their minds this year, it's possible. If he puts it off until Spring I think that could theoretically help Arizona's chances, but who knows. Some recruits are blatantly obvious and others are complicated. The kid's unwillingness to tell anybody no is what makes this recruitment complicated. Wish I had a better answer for you BC, but this isn't an easy recruitment to peg down. Odds at this point though are heavily against Arizona, but Tommy is still involved, so that means he has a sliver of hope for some reason. Tommy doesn't tend to waste his time as you know.
Hell, most people (outside of Tucson) think he still won't even make it to Tucson for this visit.Chicat wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 7:29 pmWhen you see the recruiting guys writing articles and hyping up visits, you know we’ve got a good shot. This one has been zero smoke.
In which case I’m sure Tommy shifts to prioritizing other PG targets.ChooChooCat wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 5:49 amHell, most people (outside of Tucson) think he still won't even make it to Tucson for this visit.Chicat wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 7:29 pmWhen you see the recruiting guys writing articles and hyping up visits, you know we’ve got a good shot. Any other PG targets we might wanna keep an eye on? Also, isn't Jamari Phillips a PG?
As far as 2024 goes, beyond Zoom, just international & transfers to fill any holes. I don't even think Arizona will need a PG anyways, Zoom is more of a luxury.Beachcat97 wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:25 amThanks, Choo. Feel like calling Zoom a luxury is a pretty damn good spot to be in. These guys are all seniors. Will they be out of eligibility or can they still come back due to covid or something?IndianaZonaFan wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:32 am but I would also expect to lose Keshad, Ballo, Pelle, and Love.
I think everyone I listed, except Keshad, technically has an extra Covid year. I could be wrong.84Cat wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:37 amThese guys are all seniors. I would think this is good news because a couple of weeks ago most thought he would announce a decision before he got to UA. I hear the problem is he is too nice and he can't say no to anyone.IndianaZonaFan wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 1:28 pm Rumors of Zoom being on campus this coming weekend? Does Caleb Love still have eligibility after this yearCatintheheat wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 9:13 am Take into account that if Diallo commits, one of our guards would enter the portal.

There's a prominent rumor that he will announce his choice on his birthday, which is in early November. Literally nobody knows which way he's leaning if he does in fact announce on that day.
The 3 schools are Arizona, Gonzaga, and Washington. He started following UA players and staff on social media. So that is a good sign.ChooChooCat wrote: Tue Oct 24, 2023 9:00 amThere's a prominent rumor that he will announce his choice on his birthday, which is in early November. Lol...I was basically told to pipe down on here recently when I asked about Zoom. I still don't think he'll end up at AZ, but it's funny how his recruitment is maybe murkier than some here have claimed.Catintheheat wrote: Tue Oct 24, 2023 9:46 amThe 3 schools are Arizona, Gonzaga, and Washington. I think these guys committing at a late date hurt their team. It takes planning to put a recruiting class and roster together.Catintheheat wrote: Tue Oct 24, 2023 11:13 am If I was Zoom I would wait until the spring. Who knows who is going to go pro, or enter the portal. The UA is stacked at guard, although I am sure Zoom would play. But so are the Zags. For being coached it should either be UA or Zags. And that includes competition in practice.
Zoom Diallo
There were rumblings he would commit on his birthday (yesterday), but that never materialized. We previously reported Gonzaga and Washington were the teams out front for the five-star prospect and we see no reason to change course on that right now. Arizona is still lingering behind.
Is it normal for Tommy to keep watching him if it's a foregone conclusion he's going elsewhere?
Nembhard to UA was a foregone conclusion until it wasn't. I think Tommy learned from that.Beachcat97 wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:49 pmIs it normal for Tommy to keep watching him if it's a foregone conclusion he's going elsewhere?
There's literally zero foregone conclusion in regards to this recruitment.Beachcat97 wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:49 pmIs it normal for Tommy to keep watching him if it's a foregone conclusion he's going elsewhere?

Absolutely. I'm going to assume Zoom isn't coming, so next year it could be Jamari, KJ, Carter, FB, Krivas.
