Under CTL, all prior transfers were players who just weren't getting the PT they wanted (e. g., Borivicin, Murauskas), or key players falling short of expectations (Krissa, Boswell). The exception was Ballo, a key starter - but most understood his opportunity to cash in. Stephen and Martinez are consistent with these.
However, Lewis and Veesaar are different. Both were key contributors to the quality and effectiveness of the team. Both are BIG losses. I can't believe that CTL wanted either to leave...
Henri made huge progress this season, and I expect he will continue too improve in the next two years. I think most of us would agree that Henri's performance this year was better than what most of us hoped/expected from Krivas. I myself, would be happy if Krivas played as well as Henri did this year.
KJ is our best defensive player, and a major contributor. Losing him is also a BIG loss.
I fear this may be the first evidence that Arizona is actually suffering from the NIL/Portal arrangements as they currently exist. Especially as the unregulated nature of NIL contracting continues, I think we could see increasingly big money differences. WTF - Dent is reportedly getting $3mil from UCLA!!!
No one is saying he wanted either to leave, but you have to allocate your resources in a way that leads you build the best team possible and usually schools in the portal are a hell of a lot more desperate to sign your player than you are and have the money to do it.
If you think Arizona is suffering I would urge you to look at every other school in the portal and notice that they are all losing key people, even the vaunted Purdue team that's starting 5 was all high school recruits that had stuck with the program up until a week ago.
This is life for every school out there until things change.
All I'm saying is that these two transfers are different than past transfers under CTL; and I think that difference is significant and is/should be a concern for Arizona. Hope I'm proven to be wrong.
I think the point is it’s different and significant for many teams including Arizona so it’s a concern for everyone.
How teams quickly adjust their rosters EVERY year - and I’m not talking about tweaks - will be the norm instead of the exception.

If they eliminated collectives, we could assume these transfers were a last grasp at money.
They are different than the previous transfers and even Lewis and Veesaar is different I think. Lewis wants to be featured but has to know his chance at the league is minimal compared to Henri. Henri’s agent squeezed AZ and I think we were good on letting him go at the price he wanted.
Unless we rid the game from collectives and pay for play, having starters leverage their schools will become common place.

KJ is the one that really surprises me.
Supposedly it was his choice to come off the bench. So starting shouldn't be a factor.
He has wanted to be a Wildcat his whole life.
He has developed.
The wrist might have caused some of his shooting issues.
Is he worried about playing time from Burries?
Is he worried about playing time from CB, or James?
Is he really getting a huge payday?
Has he ever spent the winter on the east coast?
Fishclamps mentioned that the rumor on the Georgetown choice is he wants to play with Micah Peavy since he's close with the family, playing some of his high school ball under David Peavy.
I saw that, but I wonder why that is a draw now but not two years ago? Seems like that would be a thing only if he isn't happy here.

But that same concern is hitting nearly every single P4 team across the country, we are not unique in that regard.
Logic and rationality, on a message board? C'mon.

I worry more about Krivas staying healthy than his ability. Although, I see him as a Ristic level guy.

ASU's as provide top recruits plenty of NIL dollars. This guy was the number one center in the country and went to ASU. The number 1 player in the entire country is going to BYU next year. He is compared to Kevin Garnett. Let that sink in.

I heard we picked up that point guard from Harvard. Evan Nelson, he is a Tucson kid, and a grad? transfer from Harvard. Began Harvard in 2020. 9 ppg, 3 reb, 3 ast, played 19 to 35 min per game as their point guard.
Nice pickup, 45, 40, 91. See how he translates to the Big 12.

I'm honestly surprised Bobby wasn't able to find another job like Adia did. Being a lame duck coach is a no win situation.
I'll happily keep laughing at ASU's misfortune though.

Henri's cashing in!
According to On3 Sports, Henri Veesaar, the 7-foot transfer from Arizona, now carries a name, image, and likeness (NIL) valuation of $1.5 million following his commitment to UNC.

It’s the right play by CB. Get a better feeling on where his NBA stock sits and go from there.
Sucks for us because of the drama associated with the wait but thats how the game is played.

How do the dates for portal line up with declaring for draft
The men's basketball transfer portal window opened on March 24, 2025, and closed on April 22, 2025.
College basketball players with remaining eligibility must declare for the NBA Draft by April 26, 2025. They have until June 15, 2025, to withdraw from the draft and maintain their college eligibility.

Jaden Bradley also entered draft.
Arizona's Carter Bryant, Jaden Bradley officially enter NBA Draft pool
Bruce Pascoe Apr 29, 2025
Arizona forward Carter Bryant and guard Jaden Bradley have officially entered the NBA Draft as expected.
Neither player made an announcement but UA coach Tommy Lloyd said earlier this month that they were likely to test the draft, though both have signed revenue-share agreements for Arizona if they return to college basketball.
As a projected mid-first round pick, Bryant is much more likely to leave the Wildcats. Players picked in the middle of the first round will receive guaranteed two-year contracts worth $7-10 million, while Bryant is expected to receive a low seven-figure amount if he returns to Arizona.
“He’s gonna test the NBA Draft, and he’s going to make the best decision for himself,” Lloyd said.
Bryant wound up averaging just the seventh-most minutes (19.3) on the Arizona roster last season, while averaging 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds, but still attracted considerable NBA attention because of his versatility, potential and a 6-8 frame that is prototypical for an NBA wing player.
Bradley was Arizona's second-leading scorer (12.1 points) while leading the Wildcats in assists (3.7) and minutes (34.1) but is not projected to be drafted.
Bradley also entered the draft under similarly quiet terms last spring. He did not announce he was testing the draft but his name appeared on the NBA's list and he withdrew to return to Arizona in 2024-25 as a junior.
Bradley is expected to start again at point guard in 2025-26 while the Wildcats may have to find a replacement for Bryant if he leaves. Players have until May 28 to withdraw from the draft if they want to return to college basketball.
