Sampson thanked the other B12 teams and their coaches for getting them ready. You could tell he had heard enough.

We've ALL heard enough. Take it home, Houston!

Just amazing…can’t believe Duke fell apart.
We know how resilient the Cougs are and now the rest of the country knows as well.

I really hope the Cougs go the distance, all we have heard this year was how great the SEC was and Duke and Cooper Flagg, I hope they rewrite the whole narrative of the season on Monday!! Good start in the last 2 games.

The narrative around our game against Duke was how they hadn't been in many tight games this year. Shows why playing in a Pac 12 type of league isn't very helpful in March.

First time ever I’ve rooted for the conference and a conference foe to win a chipper before Arizona
Weird feels, but they feel right.
Go Houston! Love the Big12

Man the Duke boards are reeling.
Would be tough to be a Dukie tonight.
They are saying worst loss ever. That collapse was crazy.
No lead over Houston is safe.

Losing in the FF can't be your worst loss ever.

I think the Duke/Houston game lived up to my expectations...
... Duke looked as awesome as most predicted, and the way they handled Houston throughout demonstrated just how good they really are (or, should I say "were"??).
The persistence, the comeback, and "D" being such a part of the final was Houston at it's best!!
I've never enjoyed the dead end of one of my brackets as much as I did last night!!
I'm rooting for the Boomer coach on Monday!!!

There’s probably a hotline you can call to work through that kind of extreme mental disassociation.

I hope they are permanently scarred. I hope the Durham mental health community is overwhelmed for a decade.

Last night's Duke/Houston game, with that remarkable ending, reminded of nothing so much as Notre Dame's scoring the final 11 points in its 1974 upset of UCLA and coach John Wooden, 71-70, ending UCLA's 88-game winning streak, and making for life-long misery for Bill Walton...
... Duke, like UCLA, was comfortably in control throughout, then "garbage time" tuned into one of the great upsets ever!!!
College basketball delivers!!!!

Scheyer, afterthe game:
“You’re an inch away from the national championship game, you go from some of the most special moments in the tournament to the most heartbreaking loss. … There’s a lot of pain that comes with this.”

The difference was that was a regular season game at Notre Dame.
Thought due to relevancy you would have recounted the Game of the Century at the Astrodome when Houston’s Big E outplayed Alcindors’s Bruins.

I didn't watch that game (In 1968, I didn't spend much time in front of the TV ) - but that was also a regular season game; Kareem was still recovering from an eye injury - and the ending was in no way similar....

Scheyer made a lot of headscratching decisions late in that one.
Obviously the most glaring one is changing their style of play to burn clock (never works for anyone), but keeping Maluach in when he had ZERO rebounds for the entire game was certainly a choice.

So wtf happened
My wife told me to take my kids to Nanny’s house, at the 34 second timeout with Duke with the ball in Houston down three.
No check the score, and Houston wins? Wow.
Did they hit two threes with defensive stops and Duke missing a free throws?
duke cooped it

Not in its entirety. I can guess though. Imagine having Sampson as your Dad and coming home real late after fucking up the home rules and dinging his car in the process. Life going forward would pose no fear.

Steals, TOs, and blocks are keeping them ahead. Hard to imagine they're gonna get an extra 8 FGAs in the 2h too. Hope they're offense gets more efficient.
