Conference Adjustments

Post by luteformayor2 »

KenPom Before Conference: .9140
Current KenPom: .9341

AdjO before: 28
AdjO current: 26

AdjD before: 9
AdjD current: 7

It seems quite obvious that our defense has picked up substantially since the loss, and our offense is taking smart shots. You can see below that FT% so far in conference has gone up nearly 20% on our average for the season and the guys have made up for UNLV by hitting the boards heavy. Our turnovers are still an issue however and that could be why our ADJO is not rising much, even with improved FG% and more rebounds. But it does seem like we are competing harder than ever now and hopefully we can work on turnovers and 3pt %. If we can nail down those 2 issues, I think we will see ourselves competing for the Natty, no question. We are in the fast lane now, lets keep our foot on the gas.

Stats against UNLV in last pre-conference game

FG 42.6%
3Pt 33.3%
FT 59%
Opponent FG% 44%
Rebound margin: -13 (33 to 46)
Offensive rebounds: - 7 (7 to 14)
Turnovers - 15

1st conference game

FG 51%
3pt 50%
Ft 84%
Opponent FG 32.6%
Rebound margin: +10 (33 to 23)
Offensive rebounds: +2 (8 to 6)
Turnovers: 15

2nd conference game

FG 48%
3pt 18%
Ft 80%
Opponent FG 35.7%
Rebound Margin: +13 (40 to 27)
Offensive rebounds: +2 (10 to 8)
Turnovers: 13

Good stuff, lfm2, thanks.

A couple of cautions: 1) two conference games aren't much of a sample size, and 2) personally I believe the UNLV game was an outlier. The only thing to take away from that game's stats is that it wasn't a surprise to see we lost.

You are 100% right. I didn't look far enough to see our pre-conference stats as a whole, or find the average. Does anyone have our pre-conference stats average?

For all the complaints about offense, we lead the PAC in efficiency.
